In an acceptance speech, a Rockstar developer teased "absolutely mind-blowing things" to come from the game.

“There’s an incredible amount of people doing amazing things on Grand Theft Auto 6. Absolutely mind-blowing things so it’s a real honour to be able to come up here and accept this award on everyone’s behalf. I wish more of us could be here. Thank you very much everybody and more to come. Thank you.”

In just a few weeks time, Rockstar could also win the same award but in The Game Awards which is a more popular event. It was announced this week it’s in the running for “Most Anticipated Game” alongside Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, Ghost of Yōtei, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, and Monster Hunter Wilds.

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
People really get excited for stuff from a dev that still make you fail missions because you took a right instead of a left?

Rockstar games play like shit. Hopefully, they fixed that in GTA VI, but I ain’t holding my breath.
this is true, the quest design has been downgraded for a long time now, very linear

Quest design is not why people play GTA games. Obviously.

But there's no question the gameplay progress is seriously outdated.

Still can't wait for it! GTA5 is easily one of the best of the series, for me. And 6 does look fantastic. Would like some gameplay breakdowns... but I suppose that's part of the Rockstar media blitz that's coming much later.

If it's anything like RDR2 then yeah, it'll be mind blowing. Still have yet to play a game as beautiful as it was when it came out years ago.

are we getting a Hispanic couple as the protags?
Yeah this one really bums me out.

In GTA V you have three characters who don't take each other seriously and in some cases don't even like each other's guts. There's a lot of potential here for funny stuff.

What kind of funny things you can expect from this? You will either get love and holding hands or a couple arguing. And some "everything will be OK my love" moments.

This is also an indication the characters will take themselves and each other much more seriously this time. Which is not a good fit for a GTA game.

But i don't really expect this to be good either way. It will be visually impressive and the city will probably be the best open world ever made, but the characters and story will be your typical western game in 2024.

What time is it?
Are kidding me!? Back in PS2 era of GTA they give you mission like go kill the target and you have total freedom how go about killing your target.

That freedom was being sandbox was all about.

That was mostly GTAIII as the sequels started to do more and more heavy scripting which makes me think that freedom was more of a happy accident than intentional design...sadly.

And that what sucks, R* is can't decide if they want make cinematic linear game or sandbox game.

The post referred to losing a guy in a "chase" quest and failing as a result. Which has existed in the series since the PS2 days.

And I think the point remains, the game since then is super focused on the free-form, non-quest gameplay... especially over the many previous post-GTA3 sequels within the series. It becomes more and more important with each sequel!

I mean, they have unlimited budget, talent and time so I'd assume it's mind blowing indeed.

This won't be the GTA we all know and love. I'm convinced now that this will be D.E.I infiltrated and have the satire sucked out of it. I'm definitely waiting until the the game is in the hands of real people to get feedback before I jump in.

I have no doubts that the attention to detail is gonna be amazing, next level very likely. How NPCs will behave and react. But truly how much will be brand new, actual stuff that hasn't been done before?

And this. I adore RDR2 but the incredibly linear mission structure was something that could have made the game perfect if it offered way more player freedom.

I usually don’t comment on R* threads because I don’t like their half assed action, movement and progression system, so there is no need to antagonise. And yet, here you are spitting facts, that the youngsters would say.

I recently played GTA 5 for the first time in a while. Holy shit the clunky gameplay is absolute dog shit. Even in 2013, I knew it was outdated, but man, it is just rough

If GTA 6 can keep their standards of one upping themselves with their attention to details and combine that with very good 3rd person combat, it will feel revolutionary. This is the same studio that developed Max Payne 3. One of the best TPS's of all time. And the 2022 GTA 6 leaks showed drastic improvements to combat, which has me hopeful

All i see are clickbait articles and clickbait youtube videos.
This game is still 2 years away AT LEAST and they didn't show anything concrete. The rest is just engagement bait.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
Not surprising, half of the people excited for it wasn't born when the last new GTA was released.
