HBO’s ‘The Last of Us‘ Season 2 resumes production following the end of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Filming is set to start on January 7, 2024, in Vancouver, BC, Canada, as confirmed by the Production List.

‘The Last of Us’ Season 1 premiered on HBO on January 15, 2023, and was renewed for Season 2 on January 27, 2023, after the opening episode surpassed 22 million views. Showrunner Craig Mazin revealed that Season 2 will be split into two parts. He said, “The show won’t conclude with Season 2 unless viewers don’t watch it and it gets canceled.“

Reportedly, the budget for ‘The Last of Us’ season 2 will surpass that of season 1. The storyline will span multiple seasons and feature a greater number of infected compared to season 1. Expect deviations from the source material of ‘The Last of Us Part 2’.

The Last of Us’ Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on HBO in early 2025.

My hopes are not high on this one continuing. It's nothing against the actress that played Ellie. It's really not her fault that the writers didn't have the courage to or want to take the time to make Ellie a legitimate threat the way she was in the game. They, in a ham-fisted overly dramatic final scene, made Joel out to be the killing machine he's supposed to be, but never took the time to allow Ellie to become the same sort of monster. I think I pretty much gave up on expecting her growth in the university episode. In the game, that moment is gold because it turns the tables on the "escort-mission-like" dynamic between the central protagonists. In the game, Ellie confronts the dangers that stand between them and in the series, she effectively only runs away from them.

In order for them to continue the story, Ellie has to be a right bastard. Vicious and self-reliant. She needs to be the girl who Joel raised to be a survivor. They could still do it on the back end, but they missed the opportunity to do it right.

She did a really good job in season 1 I thought. The main issue most people have is they don't want to fuck her and that for some reason means she's a bad cast for Ellie lol.

I enjoyed S1 a decent amount but it's a pretty predictable story beat that has been done a bunch in tv/movies before. As much as people despised TLOU2 story, I think it will make for amazing TV. And unlike the game, the show doesn't have to just follow Joel and Ellie. They can build up key characters before pivotal moments take place to make it less jarring for viewers.

The actress is like 20 in real life. And Just like Joel in S1, the character of Ellie doesn't need to kill more than a few people to progress the story in a meaningful way. I can only think of 2 scenes where she needs to kill somebody. And one of them is a female civilian. She's not going John Rambo

I really liked the first season, thought it was a pretty solid adaptation of the game. There were certainly some aspects I wasn’t a huge fan of, but overall I thought it was good. Hard to get excited about a new season when it’s like 2 years away, though.

If you're going to engage with an idea in a combative nature, lead with something constructive. Clearly, there are people who feel that way. It's not a human red herring. The instant an anomaly is pluralized it becomes akin to a pattern. This in turn makes the person critiquing an opinion look ignorant of the thing they disagree with, dismissive, and an uneeded presence. Feeling the need to shout into the aether that you don't like something with no understanding of it and no desire to broaden horizons is like that BPD chick in high school who would shout Llama! As loud as possible in the halls between classes. Truly an instance of uneeded inter-I'm just fucking with you dude, it's pretty weird.

From a narrative standpoint, I value sending characters off in ways that are sensible to their lived experience, skill level, occupation, things that make sense. In that sense, I'm with that camp. A lot of folks get way too invested, though. For me, when I realized that I wasn't "the demographic," anymore, my love for TLOU1 didn't make me seethe with rage, rather my distaste for some of the elements in Part II kind of poisoned the well for me, and brought down my investment in the story as a whole. Not The quality, but my investment.

In the real world soliders that are trained for for years sometimes get killed by children there is no beautiful send off when you are murdered. it's cold and a lot of times unexpected. one wrong decision chains into your death that's just the way it is. Why would joel be any different?

I think you can still have a realistic and grounded (hahahhahhahahhaa) setting and still adhere to established and pedigreed story telling techniques. I personally dislike the age of "subversion media," and throwing out characters, plotlines and entire narrative techniques with the sole narrative goal of "throwing off the audience,"

Narrative techniques and character arcs were established and play out a specific way not because of oppressive patriarchy or whatever, but because they resonate with human beings. It's just coherent writing.

Were I telling a story about the trained soldier you mentioned, despite being a real person, that story would still have a beginning, Middle and end and a protagonist and antagonist. It would still follow a defined structure and have relatable beats. I think TLOU2 lacks a portion of that.

Joel had his beginning, middle, and end. Just because you don't like how it ended does not mean Joel's story wasn't told.
