Some quick questions, I'd like to get a modded system for emulation/media yet I feel like I'd need a larger HD than the standard one.

1) would a larger HD make it harder/impossible to play on Live?

2) would having a modded system negate my ability to download additional content via Live?

3) ripping music to the HD for custom soundtracks, can I simply transfer mp3 files from a PC via a router or do you have to do it directly from a CD?

Sorry if this topic has been done to death, but I couldn't find clear answers to the questions I had in old topics. I know this info is all over the net but the xbox mod consortium here seems to know this stuff in and out.

thanks for any help

1) Harder yes, but there's a great chance Microsoft won't create something to detect larger HDs. Just get a chip with a switch and large enough space to hold the newer BIOS which won't allow LIVE even when they're on. You'll also do well to keep files off of your C, E, X, Y and Z drives. That would not be a problem at all if you have a larger Hard drive (For which you are required to make an F and even G partition)

2) No it does not as long as MS thinks you have an unmodded box

3) The Xbox encoder uses WMAs at some sort of odd bitrate but I assume you can transfer WMAs and have it think it was 'ripped'

If you have a modded xbox you can use the free korean software "Xbox Soundtrack Editor." You have to convert your music files to wma format (you can use a program like dbPoweramp for that), then you can transfer your wma files directly over your network into the Xbox's custom soundtrack listings.
