Help with OLED not showing PC screen

I have an LG C2 and a gaming PC I've had since about March. I turn off my PC every night. But, sometimes when I turn back on the PC and the TV it will give me a boot up screen (It's an Origin PC). But, these days I sometimes have to plug and unplug the HDMI to get the screen to show up. It's happened with different ports and different cords. Any advice to fix this?

That sounds like an issue with the PC. Try plugging it into a different TV/monitor and see if it still does that.

Can you share a screenshot/pic of what you mean by that? Like, is it your PC boot screen, is it posting, or is it your TV "booting up"?

How many devices do you have plugged into your GPU?

I only had this on my LG when my second screen is also connected, only a problem if I need to go into BIOS then I just disconnect the DP cable for the simrig monitor. (doesn't have to be a monitor could be a VR HMD)

this loads up and then the screen goes black. Then I see HDR in the corder but the screen stays black. That's when I have to plug and unplug the HDMI

Do you have an Nvidia GPU?

Sometimes after installing a new GPU driver and turning off the PC for the day, the next day the TV wouldn't get recognized unless I turned off Deep Color, which makes it impossible to have a high refresh rate (and possibly some other stuff).

The fix for this was opening up the Nvidia Control Panel, going DIsplay -> Set Up Multiple Displays -> check the checkbox next to the TV in the list -> Click Apply, and it works.

Not sure why it gets disabled sometimes after a GPU driver install after wiping with DDU. And not sure if the AMD control panel has something similar.

Very interesting. I'll definitely try this when I get home

eARC input? Try swapping to a different input and see if it still happens. I know eARC is the preferred input but I had an issue where my PS5 wouldn't display on my C3 until I unplugged the HDMI and plugged it back in. I swapped it to a non eARC HDMI and have had an issue since.

Can you link me one that you bought?

I think it could be HDMI bandwidth issue. Usually boot-up screens are lower in resolution, so even low-grade HDMI cable don't have much issue... but if it's highres HDR image, it may struggle.
If you can, try different HDMI 2.1 cable - especially if you are running something in high resolution.

Yeah I kinda thought that. I wonder if it's worth it to turn off HDR every time I turn off my PC just for less hassle.

It's happened on 2 different cables

I'm not seeing these options on my control panel. Do you have pics?

Here's how it's on my side:

What others mentioned it being a bad HDMI handshake due to an either damaged or outdated cable could also be the case. If you end up buying new cables, make sure to get HDMI 2.1, otherwise you might not be able to crank up all the image settings.

got the issue on my c2 as well, solved it by first powering on my screen then get the pc out of sleep mode and it works always. If however i try to get my pc out of sleep mode and then enable the screen it just hangs on a black screen until i replug.

It's so weird because I don't have the same options on my Nvidia control panel that you do

That is strange. I just checked on a PC with just 1 monitor connected to it, and even there "Set up multiple displays" shows up.

Have you tried doing a fresh install of the GPU drivers? What I usually do is use Wagnardsoft's Display Driver Uninstaller, then download the latest one from Nvidia and install it.

Here's a guide for DDU if you're interested:

If it was me, I'd start with the clean driver reinstall, and only then consider buying a new cable. Can't beat free :messenger_grinning: And if that doesn't work, the legit 2.1 HDMI cable would be my next step.
