Insider Gaming has learned that the game is being developed under the codename North. In addition to the codename, sources have confirmed that the game is being built in the Snowdrop Engine. Previous Splinter Cell games used Unreal Engine 2 and 2.5.

Sources have suggested that a release date could come in 2026, but didn’t want to be held to that time frame.

I'm still baffled how they somehow fucked up both Sands of Time and Splinter Cell remakes and are struggling so much with getting them out of the door

Splinter Cell was awesome on the first Xbox. Just stay true to the original material Ubisoft.

Don't modernize it for the supposed current audiences and people will buy it like they bought Space Marine 2 and others games true to their roots.

Yeah that would be a wise choice. But I don't trust current Ubisoft tbh, they probably will do the exact opposite of what the gamers want. Call us names, blame the failure on us, not them.

But I would love to be proven wrong.

Stealth core gameplay mechanics in current Ubisoft games is so broken that Thief from 1998 has better core gameplay which is sad, like they have gone backwards more than 26 years, and I don't mean difficulty. Just working game mechanics and AI.

It feels like those games were made by a bunch of interns for a tax writeoff or something. Star Wars Outlaws is so bad its not even funny. I always expected some bugs in open world Ubi games but this is just funny.

It doesn't spawn any kind of convince that they will deliver a solid working game with proper stealth mechanics.

Again I would love to be proven wrong.

Maybe they have access to old games source codes and even newbies may copy somekind of Chaos Theory/ Blacklist stealth gameplay but it has been announced quite a while and I feel in my bones that they are struggling.

And yet again that does not spawn any kind of confidence at all.

And I say this as a Splinter Cell fan and Thief's trilogy fan and Dishonored series fan. Stealth games were always my kind of genre.

If Ubisoft can survive this long.

This was announced many years ago, it's odd to whine about it now.
Is it as odd as defending another company padding out their catalog with yet another remaster of an ancient game that everyone has already played, and only exists to siphon money out of the wallets of Nerd Crew-style retards who are addicted to Next Product?

In my view, probably not. Good luck with your remake.

Defending? I just made an observation. You seem to have a very strong opinion about remakes you don't have to buy. I'm certainly not one to try and change it, so good luck with your anti-remake campaign I guess.

My expectations are way down on this based on just any of their games with stealth in the past 5 years. Would be surprised if they actually pull off great stealth. It’s gonna need MGSV level of gameplay to wow me.

I'm betting Ironside won't be involved and in that case it's a hard pass. I more readily accepted Kiefer Sutherland as Big Boss over Eric Johnson as Sam Fisher.

MGSV probably killed the series because Ubisoft knew they could never match it.

Imagine being so bad at your job that you need 6 years to remake a PS360-era game. The game is already there, you morons. All you have to do is copy and improve where needed.

Figures, still was expecting something to be shown this year prior to the SGF absence. But now its just a question of which one of the three "yester-era ubi classic" titles will release first? Still waiting on that Beyond Good & Evil 2....aannnyy day now

People need to realize the teams that made those Amazing Ubisoft games back in the 2000's-2010s are not the same teams/talent they have today.

There's a reason the quality has gone down despite the technology getting better.
