One hundred million dollars isn't a good enough reason on its own?
It doesn't really matter how wealthy one already is compared to double, tripling, or quadrupling your wealth overnight. That's very significant no matter how you slice it.He was already wealthy and sitting pretty. I'd rather have say over what I can air on my own program than suck corporate dick for a few more shekels.

You'd turn down 100 mil that easily?
What is the minimum net worth you'd have to be before you'd turn it down? $50 million? $10 million? If I was already wealthy and doing well, and running one of the most popular podcasts ever, yeah, you're damn right I'd turn down a pile of cash to be owned and controlled by someone else.

How poor would you have to be to take it though? I can't imagine that you'd turn down a deal like that if you've only got $5,000 in your savings account.I would never take a deal that would limit my ability to talk about the things I wanted to talk about with the people I choose. Money isn't really all that important to me.

Just curious. Everyone has a price, depending on their priorities and circumstances.Who cares
I don't think you have all the information required yet to make that judgement though.I would have turned down the deal in his position.
Easy to say when you aren't in that situation. That's not just money, that's generational wealth. His kids, their kids and their kids after that will never have to worry about money.
Joe already had money, and I'd rather keep my credibility personally. He has to run all his guest by corporate now lol.
He's earned the right to "sell out".
lmao enjoy your corporate approved propaganda
i'd like to see jones on again at some point, peterson, redban ...
I'm not really a Joe Rogan fan but enjoy shouting hollow virtues from your high horse. LOLOLOLMAO
Am I doing it right?
that's gross but i really don't give a shit, he's one of rogan's friendsRedban turned on beastiality porn in the middle of a Kill Tony episode and was showing it to the band who very clearly did not want to see it. Also he sounds like a dumbass most of the time.
that's gross but i really don't give a shit, he's one of rogan's friends
you should help your friends, not abandon them to the abyss
that's fair enough, maybe they parted amicably (with some degree of neutrality)I don't think Redban is in any trouble with the social media mob. Just pointing out that he's a gross dumbass. I rarely watch Rogan episodes raw and I haven't seen much of the early stuff. Maybe he just doesn't like Redban anymore. It's not difficult to guess why.
I agree, but I agree with your previous sentiment more. Keep you friends, and support them. I had really hoped Joe would use his new platform to break down the censorship, not succumb to it.nobody owes anyone anything
Toe is toeing the corporate line I see.
...it's EXTREMELY targeted towards people who have opinions against companies like Spotify and the way they control narratives.
Rogan still has his constitutionally protected right to free speech.I thought this place valued freedom of speech but I guess it values selling out more.
That's actually not my position. That could be a possible explanation or it could be something else, or a mix of both.I think that hamster Gaffer is probably right, it's just a glitch right now (perhaps).
rogan wasn't subsisting off the fringes, he was the apex predator with plenty capital to spareRogan still has his constitutionally protected right to free speech.
Do you not think that with his 100 million, he is in a better position to "further the cause", so to speak, now that he has more resources at his disposal? I don't think you're looking at the big picture here. We live in a capitalist society. You either play the game or subsist on the fringes. This is the same reason why actual socialists have a hard time getting a foothold in the traditional power structures of mainstream America.
Things aren't that black and white.

This is why the people you look up to shouldn't still be alive to disappoint you.
host everyone under the sun
I know - I wasn't applying that rule of thumb to Rogan's situation specifically. He played the game very well in the mainstream of alternative media and is the best at it. Generally speaking though, A black or white view that turns down all potential energy automatically concedes the opportunity to convert that energy (money) into useful work.rogan wasn't subsisting off the fringes, he was the apex predator with plenty capital to spare
Time will tell.He built the most popular podcast in the world with no corporate help, he does not need corporations. He was a wealthy man already. BUT MORE IS BETTER! I don't really have much else to say about this. I think it was a retarded move that made his show worse.
I shared a news story and commented on it, you should probably chill. Sorry my opinion on the matter triggers you fellas, I thought this place valued freedom of speech but I guess it values selling out more.
Time will tell.
I don't care about you at all.

That rule of thumb when applied to Rogan, however, shows that he can subsist and thrive in the (relative, not absolute) fringes, but can also potentially make a big splash now that he has access to 100 million dollars. Lots of potential energy in a wad of cash that big. Enough to start the process of turning fringe into mainstream. Possibly.
You don't have enough information to know that (yet)He can't interview who he wants to anymore, and they can't even leave the old goddamn podcasts up!
You don't have enough information to know that (yet)
Then stop quoting me retard lol
But, but, but my freedom of speech.
I'd call you stupid, but I don't want to insult stupid people.
Do you mean spotify v. youtube? I can see that. With spotify, there's an actual contract with clearly laid out terms. Youtube has no contract, just a TOS that they can abuse at their whims if they feel you become a problem.yeah, i'll agree with most of this
another thing to consider is the types of expectant censorship coming down the pipe of youtube v. spotify, he may be hedging his bets toward the former (since the latter has nipped at his production time again)
maybe he's doing what he must to hold the line, sometimes that means dancing with the dark
i edited that part, but yeahDo you mean spotify v. youtube? I can see that. With spotify, there's an actual contract with clearly laid out terms. Youtube has no contract, just a TOS that they can abuse at their whims if they feel you become a problem.
The "Corporate boogeyman" interpretation of Rogan's actions naively forgets that Google is one of the biggest corporations on planet Earth with its own agenda as well.
That could be exactly what they're doing. But there are alternative explanations. We don't know for sure what is what yet. We can guess, but we need to be honest with ourselves that all it is is guessing at the moment.Yes them going back and culling old episodes certainly bodes well for future appearances from those guests
I didn't say you can't or shouldn't be able to talk. Enjoy obsessively replying to someone you don't care about.
I'm sorry you think a conversation is obsessive. I assure you, I'll not think of about you again after this topic slips from mind which should take long given my advanced age.
