This youtuber really jumped on the politics train for clicks.

If you look at his videos they were almost all about his indie games or personal stuff like playing music. Once he got on the Concord train, now he does all kinds of similar videos (a bunch against Veilguard too).
Good for him then

The brand Twitter had a lot of negative reputation due to its previous moderation policies, Rebranding it as X allowed for a clean state and a new focus as the platform of free speech. It's still not fully rebranded, I still see the twitter domain come up when linking tweets which might signify it's not a permanent rebrand. Also people will still refer it as Twitter or Twitter/X, kind of when MSN Messenger had rebranded to Windows Live messenger, people still referred to it as simply 'MSN' because it was easier to say, and the name Twitter is a lot more user friendly appeal than just X.

If he wanted a clean slate, he should have at least pitched the idea for names and let it stew. I think he was just sitting on the X domain for ages and wanted to get it off his chest. Twitter already had name recognition and verbiage like tweets. Hard enough to get that for a business as is

It's not a platform that allows 'free speech', as in, there can always be consequences for what you state on there.

What is your reason for thinking X allows any and all types of 'free speech'?

That brand was worth multiples of what is is worth now. You can make a case losing 30 billion in market value is nothing in exchange of influencing the next president of the United States, but then we need to see any material advantage to materialize.

The material advantage is not having America living under a bunch of lunatics and pulling them out of a shit sandwich

I'd say it's a good buy, all in all.

Depends what you see as an advantage though.

To be fair Twitter was one of many tech stocks caught up in the stock market boom around Covid. Twitter was never going to keep that market cap with those books, Elon or no Elon.
