Xcom seems an obvious one?
Just started and love itAge of Empires 4 is a good starting point.
Yeah a long those linesReal time strategy space games? Like StarCraft?
Yeah a long those lines
Does Anno have combat?I mean the mother of all space RTS is ofc Starcraft. If you think the first one is too old for your taste than you can safely jump in the second one which is a masterpiece in terms of everything, including cinematic storytelling. It's blizzard at their peak and theres nothing like it in the market.
Moving on, Frostpunk is a great survival RTS, a bit sci-fi/post-apocalyptic. Havent played the second so can't commen on that.
Not sci-fi but fantastic RTS is the Anno series, specifically 1404 and 1800. 1800 will give you a ton of hours of content. One of the last franchises owned by Ubisoft that hasnt been ruined.
Havent played it yet but Age of Darkness just got out of Early Access so you shoul check it out.
Rift Breaker, fantastic action rts, you basically control a mech which you use to destroy waves of aliens in epic battles and you will also have to build a base to advance and whatnot. Fantastic game!
These are at the top of my head.
Thats turn-based.
Only ship combat. It's a political RTS, which means pirates and the enemies can build a lot of ships to attack and ruin your base, but it's also easy to avoid it.Does Anno have combat?
Does Anno have combat?
Yeah I've had that one on my wishlist for a long time. But I want one with more combat for now. Maybe one day I'll jump inAnno does have combat. The newest version, Anno 1800 has both ship and airship battles. However, the game is 80% city builder/logistics and trade simulator and 20% combat. If combat is what you're looking for, Anno isn't for you. It's a great game though. I have probably around 500 hours in Anno 1800.
Just started and love it

That's a good question. I'm equally trying to get into RTS generally. However, I'm still pretty new to PC and want some games with good space ship combat. I figured steam would have some good options on games.AoE4 is good. But you prefer a space setting, right? What's the most important quality? The RTS genre? Does it have to be strategy or does any kind of action combat in a space setting suit you?
Maybe something from the Total War franchise?
Steam Franchise: Total War Official
Spanning feudal Japan, the Roman era, Medieval Europe and 18th century France, the Total War series brings the past to life with a unique mix of turn-based strategy and real-time land and naval battles.store.steampowered.com
I've not played RTS games in a long time but what I always liked to do was to turtle.
Supreme Commander 2 is so fun for this. You can set enemy to MAX difficulty (or few enemy players) and see if you can manage to survive and build an army or artillery behind your walls.
I was doing that in Total Annihilation, Warhammer dawn of war, Supreme commander games and the (oh I am old) LOTR games that had very fun walls building mechanics
edit: like this.... and these sessions can last like 3 hours. At some point, I was afraid to launch this game because the time disappears

Homeworld does look tight af
The best two.
Contrary to what people think here, I've finished tons and tons of RTS games full campaigns Like cnc3, Warhammer dow, lotr1,2, the star wars empire at war both rts games, total annihilation, theThat is excitedly terrifying. What a rabbit hole.

oh I had no idea it's out of early access. thanks
This game is all about turtling, and it’s pretty good
And that's not even the best thing about it..Homeworld does look tight af
Came to suggest these. Sounds like what you're looking for.Sins of a Solar Empire is in essence Command and Conquer in space from a complexity stand point, 1&2 on Steam both are excellent games.
If you want something more complex and for number crunching then Stellaris.
Try IXION. More like colony management like Frostpunk but in space with amazing graphics and music.Especially space related games. But I'm up for anything.
Myth II was one of the best (and first) things I ever played online. Amazing singleplayer campaign too, plus countless mods and total conversions. Every new PC and Mac I've had since then, I always install Myth II.try the myth games form Bungie they are like no other
