I guess if you can’t generate interest with your skills and abilities, you have to go for the ‘ living my truth ‘ route.

I can finally admit I never watched any of them without someone judging me. lol

I didn't buy into the hype at the time because those special effects were copied everywhere and I was sick of them.

I guess she went to the J.K. Rowling school of "pretending it was actually all about identity politics" long after the fact. What's next, Alien was actually a metaphor for xenophobia? Rush Hour was actually a commentary on interracial marriages? The Lord Of The Rings was really a documentary on the immigration crisis?

I’m tired of this trend of these creatives coming out and “confirming” that their old work actually conforms to 2020 SJW norms, and then the SJW press using it as a sort of “checkmate bigots.” As someone who actually was in their formative years when The Matrix came out, I can say that nobody, absolutely nobody, not a single person, framed Matrix as a trans allegory at the time, and the fact that the article mentions that people started talking about it after says it all. It’s also worth noting Hilary Swank won an Oscar for playing a trans person in Boys Don’t Cry, a movie that came out the same year as the Matrix (and she would not be allowed to be in that movie today). I know scifi and Oscar type dramas are not the same thing, but this idea that the entire world wasn’t ready for these stunning and brave messages is just flat out false.

Again, this is blown way out of proportion.

Dumbledore makes perfect sense in hindsight being gay, and is hinted at several times if you reread the books. The guys love of knitting alone should have tipped people off.

Meanwhile she had no say whatsoever in who the producers of the non canon Cursed Child cast as Hermione, but did anyone really expect her to not support it and handwave it away?
😂 Dude, no. People were supposed to assume he is gay because he knits?

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
So the character Switch was trans? To me she looked like a woman in and out of the Matrix.
That's good. They didn't shove her identity in our face for no good reason.
They've actually said in interviews and stuff before that they originally wanted Switch to be played by two different actors - one man and one woman - and they would Switch depending on if they were in the Matrix or real world. Warner Bros. said they had to take that out of the script because they thought it would be confusing to audiences without having to "shove it in their faces". Also, they probably didn't want to have to pay two different people for the same role.

You know this movie I made a long time ago? It actually was woke by todays standards all the time. I actually predicted the modern world and made a movie so ahead of it's time that people did not understand it until now.
Please give me lots of likes on my twitter account now dear fans!

Yeah ok. jwhatever you say. I don't think they said that when it first released. Hindsight is not the lens people watch the movies through.

liberty, humanity, antiauthoritarian, abolishment, human creative power, mental toughness, were and are All bigger and more prominent themes in my mind.

ok great, but that has nothing to do with the way i interpreted it. and i believe thats one of the things that makes art so addicting. that you can write something with your own interpretation in mind, but someone else could have a wildly different takes. i love it!

just bc the writer may have been coming from a particular perspective and analytical viewpoint, does not mean that i share nor do i have to share that with them

cool for the wachowskis and lol at anyone who gets their jimmies rustled by this

Didn't know that both had transitioned.
It's their movie so you can't really argue with it. Though I'm always skeptical about these claims when they surface years after the original work has been out.

Everything else she gets accused of is mostly made up bollocks, while she is constantly attacked by SJW's for being a racist, homophobic TERF.

Hell, she's probably the most high profile and influential person in the media right now, actually standing up to the insanity of the far left and cancel culture.

The whole Hermione thing could have been handled better though.
She could have supported it without trying to pretend like she totally never envisioned her as white.

But I agree that she deserves respect for being one of the few high profile people actually taking a stand against SJW's.

I'm not sure if saying a story where the protagonist dies at the end resulting in an uplifting ending as an allegory for being transgender is the wisest take.

The only Trans'ing that happened in the Matrix trilogy for me was how the sequels transitioned into being shitty movies. Honestly after watching all 3 again recently, I'm convinced that the first Matrix was just a happy accident that it turned out so well. I still don't get why people want their race or sex to be the only thing that they are or represent.

and talking non stop about cheese.

The old NPC meme really hit home for me because just like in shows/games/movies, a lot of people really are singular beings that make their entire reason for existing about one thing.

Crossdressers and drag queens actually outnumber trans people by a HUGE margin.

However the trans community is quite hostile to them because they see it as mocking. It's a giant clusterfuck. I try to avoid all that shit.

Oh, don't worry- The transgender "community" is ridiculously hostile toward most anyone these days...even toward other transgender people who have medically-diagnosed gender dysphoria.

The whole thing is a dumpster fire. I want nothing to do with any of it.

How dare you be a reasonable, normal human being in this outrage obsessed climate....

She described Switch, “a character who would be a man in the real world and then a woman in the Matrix," as representative of where her and her sister’s “headspaces were” when they were making the films

The only thing that changed from the real world to the matrix was hair length aside from Switch who had shortish hair already.

Talking crap.
Your new film is probably going to be shit.

She said the "Matrix" series was about a “desire for transformation, but it was all coming from a closeted point of view.”
In other words..."I wasn't woke yet. Might be something out there that might cancel me. Plz don't cancel me."

In ten years when they're working on Matrix 5 and the new hot button social issue is discrimination of people who shove beehives up their asses, Lilly will say "Yes of course, obviously" when some idiot on Twitter asks if how painful it was to sit through Reloaded was a nod to ass beehives.

OK. I don't see them that way but still love the first two films. I'm glad art can be interpreted in numerous ways. If that was her intention I don't see it.

Absolutely. Art/expression (creative or otherwise) means what it means to the one who perceives it. That *is* the meaning.

Didn't that one guy in the film say he could tell what sex people were from reading the binary code? or was it hair colour?

It doesn't make sense even if he's reading entire bytes at a time, as I'm pretty sure in the LGBT community there are more than 256 genders now, and they definitely have more than 256 hair colours.

This is why I like David Lynch. Doesn't feel the need to tell people what the message in his art is, actively fights against people asking him what things mean. There's an interview on the Eraserhead criterion bluray from like the early 70's, a dude asks him "So David do you want to tell us a bit about what this movie means to you?" He literally just goes "No", and the guy moves on. You see a trans allegory and can logically argue it? Cool! I didn't see one and I don't really care.

And I'm saying the books do, it's just never brought up explicitly because he's an old geezer, well passed the point of romantic entanglements, by the time the stories were taking place.

Dumbledore is written as being camp as hell, and all his backstory with Grindlewald was dripping with homoerotic subtext.

Confirming she was writing him as gay down the road was just that; confirming what she had already written.

The books say that Hermione is white, yet Rowling tried to shame people who said that Hermione is white by claiming she never said she was white.

She is just full of shit.

Good thing i learned to seperate art from the artist. I ain't gonna boycot The Matrix because of it.

But man, this comes out like a desperate move to get some publicity before Matrix 4. Now i fear the movie will be infested with activist shit 😐
