interesting, i bought this game and regretted it pretty fast. but will check out the Pro updateAvatar: Frontiers of Pandora
Reading some comments on Reddit, maybe I'll wait for a comparison first. I couldn't find any footage of the update to see for myself.Cool, looking forward to your impressions.
Every game with pssr now comes with a question mark. Cant wait to see this tested.
I did think you were maybe being a bit keen lol. I'm tempted myself tbh.Reading some comments on Reddit, maybe I'll wait for a comparison first. I couldn't find any footage of the update to see for myself.
Yeah, guess it won't be long until we know more. Especially if it's a disappointing update.I did think you were maybe being a bit keen lol. I'm tempted myself tbh.
I saw some short videos and it looked OK apart from some bits of water. But more and more people are now saying its got loads of shimmering and flickering. (which outlaws has too) I already made a mistake with Outlaws, so yeah, best to wait on this one.Yeah, guess it won't be long until we know more. Especially if it's a disappointing update.
Playing it right now and it looks and runs great, I would be afraid of a patch right now making things worse.nah better they leave as its now, its better than base ps5 and there is probabiity we will see sh2 situation that after patch pssr will make game looks like shite and runs worse
Some real growing pains with this tech
This console is nothing but a joke $700, for this garbage. Sony really should be sued for this. It’s frustrating how a product with such a high price tag can be so disappointing. They promised so much, yet the experience doesn’t come close to meeting expectations. Honestly, I wish this company would go bankrupt; $700 for this trash is unbelievable.Damn
Eh, wait. PSSR is horrible in Outlaws.Nice! I'll get the game now.
I only play Sony exclusives on it and 2K25, but yeah, it’s beyond annoying what’s happening. A lot of shoddy patches.Missed the news that Avatar is receiving a patch, haven't had a chance to play yet but it's disappointing hearing that it doesn't look good.
Honestly I am a little annoyed with the PS5 Pro and these mediocre (at best) implementations. Luckily, I was dying for a second playthrough of FF7 Rebirth and that's made the purchase worth it... so far.
I wouldn't go that far mate.. just some teething issues. I expected some but you cant ignore the good games too. This console is nothing but a joke $700, for this garbage. I know this goes against the grain but honestly over the moon with mine, really pleased in general with the uplift especially in Dragons Age, Last of US etc. I know there are other games as well but we can't base anything on Ubisoft's effort. This console is nothing but a joke $700, for this garbage. This depends what games you play. For me, it’s been amazing too, but I won’t pretend that many major games aren’t up to par.I know this goes against the grain but honestly over the moon with mine, really pleased in general with the uplift especially in Dragons Age, Last of US etc.
The PS5 Pro launch is a joke. I'm sure it'll get better with time, and will be worth it for newly released games, but this is just unacceptable.
How was Sony communication and guidelines that bad that developers just won't implement it properly? I don't blame the devs, really. Sony should be on top of this from way before the release. What a mess of a job.
Are devs forced to implement PSSR? I'm sure all the teams knew what was going on. Not sure why not just update the game slightly without using PSSR if it wasn't up to standards.
decent game , similar to farcry , so if you like those its worth a lookUltimate edition worth it for $50? Never played before but interested with the pro patch
Nah, many (if not most around here) are happy with theirs. Sure, there are issues, but plenty of games either offer boosts, better IQ with PSSR, or both. I've been happy with what I'm getting out of both Last of Us games, 0G Spider-Man (especially, chef's kiss really), Callisto Protocol, FFVII Remake (haven't jumped on Rebirth yet but that's also another banger it's stated), and both Horizons (Forbidden West especially, which can look like a new generation at times, especially the DLC).I know this goes against the grain
Yeah I'm super impressed after doing a new game plus on ratchet. Everyday TLOUP1 blows me away. Played a few hours of many other PS games like horizon burning shores, God of war, Spiderman, GT7 etc and they look incredible.Nah, many (if not most around here) are happy with theirs. Then there's Ratchet, Spider-Man 2, both God of Wars, GT7 (although this could use one more patch, but it's mostly great), and Until Dawn (the Pro really cleaned up its earlier issues). The only real disappointment for me is Silent Hill 2 and that's not the Pro's fault. Most of its issues aren't. PSSR should simply be used when it works and ignored when it doesn't, where devs can still use the very capable chops of the Pro to up graphics features and resolutions.
There's also other things about the Pro that rarely are brought up. The thing downloads much quicker than the PS5, has a snappier interface (snappiest of any console as far as I'm concerned), and loads games faster (sometimes between 3-6 seconds). Sure, at $700, it's a lot to ask of Joe Average. But, for enthusiasts that want the best consoles have to offer, it doesn't get better. Just think about what Death Stranding 2, Wolverine, and Naughty Dog's next games will really look like on this thing!
Part I is absolutely stellar looking, yes! The end of Bill's Town when they are fighting the infected/pushing the truck? Have mercy.... !Yeah I'm super impressed after doing a new game plus on ratchet. Everyday TLOUP1 blows me away. If developers need more time to properly implement PSSR they should just improve the resolution without it.
I don't think so but I hope it gives Sony more info to train the AI. Meanwhile devs should leave the option to turn it off.Are devs forced to implement PSSR? I'm sure all the teams knew what was going on. Not sure why not just update the game slightly without using PSSR if it wasn't up to standards.
Why is it the PSSR fault? There also examples where it works flawaless. Maybe Bloober and Ubisoft should have taken some time and testing to implement it? I mean how can we say both of those developers are doing a great job considering the output with their new games.pssr is disaster at this point
Same with Outlaws on Akiva, can’t believe they let it out the door like that. Water, and its effects on , seems to be the Achilles heel of PSSRI am at a loss for words how bad Avatar looks now after pro patch. Water is atrocious, everything is shimmering and pixelated in the distance like a bad connection on portal stream. The whole image is unstable. It reminds me of a PC game with bad drivers and the picture quality is full of weird glitches and artifacts.
How this passed quality control is beyond me. I am massively disappointed as I shelved this game since pro announcement hoping i would complete it in quality mode at 60.
Just WTF Ubisoft
Ps. To add insult to injury they removed all modes so you have zero options
I'm currently at the start of the dam chapter. Sheer bliss. If I played this on ps5 notpro I'd be irritated by having to choose between a satisfactory FPS and resolution.Part I is absolutely stellar looking, yes! Yeah, PSSR modes on LOU games are prime examples of the potential when used correctly and you have an engine that plays nice!We are truly beta testing PS6 at this point. On the bright side, the bigger the shitshow the faster the fixes.

All the games you mentioned but especially Capcom ones. I know I'm a broken record, but Resident Evil games are my favorite and they are all night and day on this machine.
All of them, RE2R, RE3R, RE4R, RE Village, they all run flawlessly at 60fps with RT in Resolution Mode and all bells and whistles like Hair Strands, when they were all basically unplayable on regular consoles with same settings.
I'm still on RE4R, almost 300 hours on it and it keeps providing nothing but satisfaction. Before starting Separate Ways I did another run of RE2R in RT Mode, and I'm mindblown at the difference as it went from literally unusable on non VRR panels to locked 60fps, a +20fps difference with base PS5.
Also tried all the PS4 versions of RE4, RE5, RE6, RE Zero, REmake, Revelations and they too look considerably improved over base PS5 due to the Image Quality Boost, it's an immediately noticeable and "right in your face" kind of improvement thanks to the post process AA they used, literally went from "softish" to razor sharp.
Sure, none use PSSR (thankfully), but Ragnarok, Spider-Man, TLOU do and the difference especially in ND games can be striking in favor of PSSR modes thanks to the much better resolved foliage. And not just that, look at the massive precision and detail improvement in PSSR Mode compared to the native 4K when it comes to the fences in the distance:
It's night and day. But yeah, it needs work especially in conjunction with RT AO, Lumen and the likes.
Most games ain't looking good? Mind breaking down the good vs bad?Man, what the fuck is happening
Sony seriously needs to do something about it at this point, it can't be a coincidence that most games ain't looking good - unless all devs out there are "lazy".

with ignoring fact that you get ugly shadow flickering in lou2 Santa Barbara locationYeah, PSSR modes on LOU games are prime examples of the potential when used correctly and you have an engine that plays nice!
And for the record I played TLOUP2 earlier this year on PS5 NotPro and while it looked a amazing in performance mode I was sad switching to fidelity mode and seeing the detail I really wanted.Exactly! Something like Pro · Mode is a literal game changer for consoles!
Currently pssr seems to be ok with high internal res(with exception of ff7r) and less advanced graphic features (lack of dynamic global ilumination etc). With most demanding graphicaly games like Alans Wake 2, Avatar, Jedi Survior, Star War Outlaws, Silent Hill 2 is terrible. Unfortunetly for now it is fsr2 rival not dlss. Why is it the PSSR fault?
