Just watched this movie, and wow, this movie was good
I dont care what everyone says or all the fellow Gaffer have to says about this movie (in fact i donno what gaffer think about this movie)
This is one of the most entertaining movie i have seen last year (it released last year)
all the action sequences are great, Bruce Willis is such a badass in this movie comparing to the last two movies of him i saw (SinCity, 16 Blocks) and Maggie Q is as hot as always :D

i usually didnt like action movie too much, but this is much better than i expected :D :D
 
Yep Great Movie, but I guess I shouldn't have voiced my opinion since you don't care. :(
 
I couldnt stand that mac kid, what a cunt. He almost ruined the film for me.. oh and Kevin Smith.. what the fuck?! I thought it was pretty good but its hard to take Willis serious as a baldy.. his haircut in Sin City was how he should have looked, staple that wig to his skull.
 
What was with all the Gears of war scenes. The director must have fuckin loved that game. Or maybe he thought putting it in the movie would make it hip for the younger crowd.
 
Die Hard 4 was an awesome movie.

Not as good as Die Hard or Die Hard 3. But it was still better then most of the crap that comes out these days, and IMO it was better then Die Hard 2.

Sure it was over the top with some action, but that's nothing new for the series.

The best way to tell if a die hard movie is good or not is if he has a black partner in the movie. This is seriously the best way to judge.

Die Hard 1 had Argyle and Al.
Die Hard 3 had Zeus
Die Hard 2 only had a small role from Al.
Die Hard 4 had no one.

coincidence? I think not. It also leads to the theory that 16 Blocks is actually Die Hard 4 in an alternate reality! (what)

and truthfully I enjoyed Die Hard 4 as its own movie, but compared to 1 and 3 it is lacking. I guess McTiernan is needed to make a quality Die Hard movie.
 
I can handle Die Hard 's absurdities, but th annoyance is the fine sheen on every single frame of the film and the terrible acting by Olyphant. Seriously, how did those decisions get green lit.
 
What? Live Free or Die Hard was a total piece of shit. The villain sucked, the stunts were far beyond any believability and it was watered down bullshit to obtain that lamer PG-13 rating. The plot came across as dumbed down as far as possible so they could appeal to a grade school audience. Go watch the first Die Hard again after you watch Live Free or Die Hard and then tell me the 4th was a good movie. If you do, you have absolutely no clue what made Die Hard such a great action film. The 4th movie is a damn insult to the franchise - and proof they would have been better off just letting it die after the 3rd rather than press on to beat a dead horse.

Of course, this is Fox we're talking about, so no surprise. They're still making Alien movies even though not a one beyond the first two are even worth wiping your ass with.

Well, no, I didn't, but your opinion is still void to me.

But I'm glad you decided YOU know what makes a good action movie and those who enjoy both the original AND Die Hard 4 don't.

The original is obviously the best. But personally, I think 4 is the 2nd best, then 3, and 2 sucked.

Die Hard is a classic, while Live Free or Die Hard was a poor attempt at making a late in the game cash in (that failed miserably) on an old favorite. It's terribly weak sauce.
 
Bumping this because there's been like 4 different LTTP threads on the damn movie.

I saw this in theaters, but I'm watching it on TV now and it's just so great. It's absolutely over the top in a lot of parts, but most of them are awesome. McClane vs. Asian Hooker Bitch, McClane killing a helicopter with a car, and the end when he shot himself. All badass.

The only thing that was a bit over the top even for me was McClane vs. Fighter Jet then fucking surfing on it. But even that was still great. :lol

(The chick that played his daughter is hot btw.)

She actually has a nice personality about her in the movies I've seen her in. I'm surprised she hasn't gotten more work. A better actress than fucking Alba or some shit.
 
I thought the movie was a great action flick, with some great scenes.

Nowhere near the quality of Die Hard though... I'd say it's on par with With A Vengeance
 
Pure garbage. The entire point of the earlier Die Hard movies was that he was just a regular guy. In this one he's Rambo. But even ignoring the other movies, as an over-the-top action fest it fails next to Shoot Em Up and the like that are actually nonstop action rather than this piece of shit's fifteen minutes of "THEY HACKED MY 401K!" for every five minutes of action.

Pretty much, although I have to say that even though Die Harder is the worst of the four it's still leagues better than 99% of action movies out there.
 
Didn't like it at all. I knew it wouldn't be good as the orginal but I had trust that it would be even decent action movie but i was wrong :( Horrible movie.

I think he's pretty much Rambo in the earlier ones as well, though. And story wise they're just as stupid, imho.
 
Here's what I have to say about killing a helicopter with his car and surfing a jet.....

If they could have pulled that shit off in the 80s THEY WOULD HAVE!!!!!!

It was entertaining, but WAY too over the top and kinda lost a lot of the Die Hard charm.

Watch the newest "Evening With Kevin Smith" where he talks at great length about his involvement in the movie. Like, rewriting parts of the movie on the fly.... the studio mucking with it CONSTANTLY, Tim Olyphant being a bitch, etc.
