Even as he continues his festival run with his adaptation of William S. Burroughs' Queer, Luca Guadagnino looks to have his sights set on another high-profile adaptation. Sources tell Deadline that he is in final negotiations for a new interpretation of the book American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis for Lionsgate. Scott Z. Burns will pen the adaptation. The Lionsgate film will be produced by Frenesy Films, and executive produced by Sam Pressman, the son of Edward R. Pressman, producer of 2002 original movie, through his company Pressman Film.
"We are thrilled to add another elite filmmaker to our upcoming slate," said Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson. "Luca is a brilliant artist, and the perfect visionary to create a whole new interpretation of this potent and classic IP."

No thanks, I'll stick with Mary Herron's version, which is utterly brilliant.

Agreed. It's a stone cold classic.

Most remakes are far worse than the original (Wicker Man and Point Break for example) and I can't see how a new version can top the original.

I don't want to see a modern, sigma male Patrick Bateman saying how Bryce's business card is "straight bussin. No cap" or how he needs to go on a mewing streak to build his rizz. No thanks.

I wouldn’t mind seeing more of a straight adaptation of the book. I love the original but my understanding is the author hates it.

Edit. I was confused about the original book and film. My snark still stands about any remakes of American Psycho.
