I really hope they wont rush this, because of GTA. It was clearly a fall title and they are trying to avoid launching in fall now

Fusion Engine or Unreal Engine.

Cuz that looks pretty damn good.
Incredibly hyped.

Unreal if I remember correctly.
Unconfirmed as far as I know.

Speculation:

It would make sense to keep their inhouse tech as they can develop off of their existing mechanics and systems which are already pretty solid, instead of investing in rebuilding all those things from scratch on Unreal, with the chance that things don't coalesce together properly within that timeframe.

Although Unreal's tools are pretty great, their out of the box performance and optimization tools is rather lackluster for what you're getting out of it, to say the least.

I still have hope for the franchise. There is just so much potential. Mafia 3 sucked ass but the foundation was there.

Sounds good. Recently played through Mafia I and II. Enjoyed both of them quite a bit, so I'm on board for this. A return to the old country sounds perfetto.

Kotaku reported two years ago that this prequel game - the first in what Hangar 13 hopes will become a new trilogy of Mafia games - is being built on Unreal Engine 5. In the years since, the requirements listed across countless job openings at the studio have been noting that Unreal Engine experience is desired for their current project.

So, it is fair to say that The Old Country is with absolute certainty an Unreal Engine game.

Yeah I am in, hopefully it is well written and designed, less repetetive stuff and more Mafia 1 like unique stuff.

Looks great but hopefully they have learned from their mistakes with Mafia 3. Open world is pointless if you don't have the budget to fill it with meaningful contents.
Something like Mafia 2 is much better.

I loved Mafia 3, yeah it didn't feel like a Mafia but the gameplay was a blast, and the city, time period and atmosphere were brilliant. And the remake was really good too. I trust Hangar 13

I’m glad we’re at least playing as an Italian, just wondering how they’re gonna shoehorn diversity in 1940s extremely Catholic, extremely white Sicily though.

That will influence the purchase decision of quite a lot of people.

Hopefully they actually go for full authenticity, similar to KCD/KCDII.

Ugh why did you have to remind me we live in current year.

Hype somewhat lowered now lol.

Yeah, it reminds me like a western, the outfits, horses etc.

It's likely set in the late 1800s or early 1900s before a lot of the immigration to NYC.

I know my great grandparents came over around 1905.

I'm able to trace that side of my family to Palermo all the way back to the mid 1600s. Any further and I'd have to pay for European records.

So I'm looking forward to this more than GTA VIoke

After checking it's almost certainly going to be UE5:

From the 2nd article:
There wasn’t much information offered up by the job post on LinkedIn, but it did stress that applicants would be working on an ‘unannounced multi-platform game currently in pre-production using Unreal Engine 5.’

These big games are always targeting holiday season. Im 100% sure this would come out in like october/november if it wasnt for GTA 6

No you aren’t 100% sure. You’re speculating. Might be right, might be wrong. Big games have come out in June, August, or September many times before.

This.

The days of games hunting for Fall have been long over for a while now. Spring releases and Summer release have proven gamers will buy games all year.

So no shock when I read summer 2025, that sounds legit.
