A "set" in Magic the Gathering is just a collection of cards that are sold together, but it's mostly all blind buying (opening packs of cards) to get a random assortment of cards from that set. So, unfortunately, there won't be anything like "buy this thing to get all the cards" - except for third party resellers on eBay that will have massively inflated prices.I don't know what Magic the Gathering is except that's its some pretty cards. But if this all comes in one set they hey ho I may pick it up.
Go back to work, Nomura.Always nice to see more artwork of Lightning.

It's Toriyama not Nomura. At least get the names right.Go back to work, Nomura.
Did Toriyama design Lightning? I thought it was Nomura. Mea culpa. It's Toriyama not Nomura. At least get the names right.
This set is going to be standard-legal, similar to the LOTR set. So I suspect it'll also be in Arena.Hope they make it to MTGA. The Fallout stuff never did.
Emet-selch, yes from 14Who's the guy in the dress at the bottom of the OP? Someone from FFXIV?
The collab sets tend to be a bit more expensive yes, same with dr who and fallout recently, but regular sets can also shoot up in price when people figure out there's some valuable (either in money, or play) reprints in there. Like this one:I haven't ever been into card games, but $70 for a deck of cards seems steep. Though I would suspect this is probably one of those hobbies where the fans will pay a premium for collaboration stuff like this.
Whoever the jackass was sitting next to a bouquet of roses and drawing comparisons to Lightning and said roses is who we should be crediting for it.Did Toriyama design Lightning? I thought it was Nomura. Mea culpa.
Edit: For what it's worth, Wikipedia says that Toriyama created Lightning and Nomura designed her. Whatever that means.
Magic releases two different "sets" nowadays - a regular set, and a commander set. The commander set is like an "addon" set, that has all the cards that are in these commander decks, but can't be found in regular packs. You've also linked to the "Collector" commander bundle, which is the set of four decks (complete "commander set"), but with the foil / hologram paper treatment. In my opinion, not worth spending so much extra on, but collectors will certainly eat this shit up.
WTF is this? Does this get me all the cards? Its $600 dollars....halp!!!

If you want ALL THE CARDS (and don't care about foil cards) from this set, you're going to want to pick up this set
along with at least two boxes of packs:
EDIT: Statistically two boxes of 30 packs each should get you the full set of cards, but it's an RNG numbers game. Depending on how many duplicate rares and whatnot you get, you could end up without a full set. My recommendation at that point is to buy singles of the ones your missing, or just keep ordering more and more $200 boxes.

Correct that the collectors commander sets are just foil versions of the regular sets for twice the price. Also correct that the non-collectors version should be printed in significantly higher quantities. However, it's hard to say if they've underestimated demand on this and how many of the regular sets they'll be printing. Magic sets also go in a rotation, and once the next set after this one releases, they won't print any more of this one (or at least, it's extremely rare circumstances if they do). This release is pretty similar to the LOTR one they did a while back - licensed product, but standard-legal set in regular rotation, and even those got hard to find pretty quickly. They did a limited reprint / rerelease last year that was exclusive to Costco at black friday, and that also sold out quickly. So from what I understand based on this and a Reddit thread discussing this, the collector version is A) only for those who want foil/hologram cards (something I could not care less about, in fact some games in the past I found foil versions made the card worse looking IMHO), and B) the only version that is limited release.
So the regular version of the commander sets should get reprintings eventually even if the initial preorder stock is sold out, correct?
And for the cards that aren’t in these sets but rather in the booster packs (hopefully), are they also limited to VI, VII, X, and XIV, or are other FF games covered outside of the commander decks that are focused on those four titles. It’s a real shame to see not IX love here if it’s the former.![]()
THE ENTIRE FINAL FANTASY
The beloved FINAL FANTASY RPG series' sixteen mainline games of unforgettable characters, items, and moments are now here in Magic: The Gathering! Cast powerful spells, call upon classic summons, and even visit your favorite locations on the back of a chocobo. Countless elements from the games are here for you to weave together your own story!
SAGA IS HERE
The starter kit is two sixty card pre-made decks, designed to be balanced against each other. These are usually pretty decent, especially if you're a casual player or new to Magic. Looks like this time around, both of the starter decks are Final Fantasy 7 themed. What is in the starter kit, seems to be the only thing in stock

As for cards from other games, yes they've confirmed that all the mainline games will be represented in the full set. Here's the homepage for the set:

barring another botched product code debacle as with duskmourne, they'll be back in stock.Looks like the command deck set is already gone. You were NOT lying about them eating that up!
Holy shit, I remember this.Whoever the jackass was sitting next to a bouquet of roses and drawing comparisons to Lightning and said roses is who we should be crediting for it.
Edit: Toriyama'd!
This is so sick! I'd have bought them all if I was still playing Magic
