Man, memories of watching Nappa murder everyone with my big brother, talking excitedly about Goku fighting Frieza in the playgrounds at primary school, going nuts about Super Saiyan 3 in secondary school...

Dragonball Z is more than just my childhood though. It's that one mutual experience that everyone I know has shared. It just goes for granted.

The way Gutts lost his arm was nice. I'm surprised Caska lived through all of it, even if she's broken for now.

Overall, I think this was an interesting way to write this entire set up. What a flashback. What a tremendous amount of character development. It was great, really.

Griffith is such a dick, though. :lol

I honestly say he always was but he hid it decently, but then the cover basically started to unwind once that Griffith vs Guts incident happened and it was all downhill from there.


The next arc is pretty great as well and all i'll say is that Griffith did it for a reason (other from NTRing Guts lol)

This is exactly, EXACTLY how it is for me too. It's unfathomable for me how someone could have a childhood without DBZ.

I can talk with any one of my classmates about DBZ. EVERY SINGLE ONE, and everybody knows what everybody else is talking about. As you said, it just goes for granted.

Eventually everything you hold dear will fade away to the distant past, forgotten by time.

It's simply a nostalgia thing. The people who never grew up with DB(Z) are probably going to say the same about One Piece in a while and will probably react in a similar way, if they're told that someone (in their age) didn't watch it.

Some might even think that One Piece is better than Dragon Ball.

i'm positive this chapter created a whole generation of NTR lovers .... a definitive "moment" for the medium .

It's not just nostalgia though. And I'm not talking about whether or not DBZ is good or not. That's not the point. It's the fact that it was incredibly popular back then. Everybody I knew was watching it. I mean literally EVERYBODY. And it was on everywhere, all over the world. I'm from the Netherlands and everybody I knew was completely crazy about it. Even when my cousin from Italy would come over we could discuss it for hours. I don't know where Wiseblade's from, but I'm sure it's the same for him.

One Piece isn't nearly as widespread, especially not among the mainstream, which DBZ totally was. It was ridiculous.

Yeah but One Piece came after DB therefore, fuck One Piece and all the little snots that think it's like, the original ish.

Luffy is just a Goku copy anyway.

I guess so.

For me i had no idea what the term was about at the time i saw it but i knew the act was fucked up though LOL. So going back and adding the term now is kinda hilarious.

I think Dragon Ball has been the first manga I bought along with Ushio & Tora and Ogenki Clinic. Loved it so much and still do. Surely I'm not the only one, given years after years it's always on TV and new editions keep coming out (color, perfect edition, evergreen, etc) over here.

People not having Dragon Ball childhoods make me feel old. -_- I actually got into it originally because my cousin had some of the movies in Chinese. And I think it was on in the mornings of the weekends.

But, this arc can still be salvaged. Bring on the 10k dragons Mashima, and please, PLEASE don't screw this up.

You know what? I'd argue without DBZ (and maybe Sailor Moon, eh) and Toonami, anime in the US would be nowhere even CLOSE to as popular as it is now.

The one who made him disappear was Minerva(?), last chapter we learn that her powers was some space/time magic where she moves stuff in places, so basically the cat got teleported to the same place where cat/tiger girl was.

To give Sting a good reason for winning the GMG. His life was in her hands (or rather in Milliana's pants) and she thought that would motivate Sting to win.

So basically she figured out Fairy Tail always wins because of friendship and nothing else, and so she tried to do the same thing to her own team.

True, but it's only $12 right now on Amazon, it does have some colors chapters, and you get 3 volumes in one for a total of 36 chapters (525 pages).

It's really a deal you can not beat for an incredible manga.
