Marathon rumored to be at tomorrows State of Play...

There really aren't that many around to make me feel stronly about this sub genre one way or the other

I've only played Hunt Showdown and Escape from Tarkov. I didn't like either one. Not really a fan of the genre but maybe Bungie can make it fun in some way.

They're a niche. They have been round enough now for them to breakout into the mainstream. And they haven't.
Nice one, that relates to what I said how?

Like I said there really aren't that many around, and the ones that are, are successful.

Tarkov has over 100k ccu I'd consider that fairly mainstream to address your point.

I don't have much interest right now, but I love the art style in the first trailer, so I definitely want to see more.

Exactly this. Destiny bored the hell out of me, so I suppose I don't have high hopes for the gameplay, but the aesthetics are cool enough that I'm not ready to write it off completely yet.

They'll be running concurrently whenever Marathon releases. They are developed by separate teams as well so I don't see why this would affect the scope of a Destiny expansion.
They are made by seperate teams but still is a Bungie project. Even if they can maintain the development cycle of both the games I don't see why they will rush releasing two major projects alongside each other.

Many many destiny players will try and play Marathon including me.

Edit- the scope was hit as soon as Marathon went into production. The A-team I think even returned to complete the The Final Shape DLC while the boat sinking Lightfall DLC was made by some other B-team. They definitely moved resources to prioritise one game over the other.

If Marathon hits big expect D2 to be put on a burner even further back than it already is. And I say that as a ten year (lapsed) Destiny player.

On a side note see they brought the Dreadnought back again. The game needs a full reset at this point in a proper sequel. I have zero interest in playing that content again.

Game will rival concord for floppage king.

No one is looking forward to this at all, and I bet it cost a few hundred million to develop. And with GTA6 probably launching within 6 months of this thing it will probably also have a short life span, or at least not have the full attention of the majority of PlayStation players.

Living upto that tag I see.

Also what your saying is every game that launches within 6 months of GTA is essentially dead? K mate.

I know there's a hatred for gaas but this is bungie.

Cant believe people are doubting the studio.

I think its gonna be great. Sure, it might not be 10/10 game of the generation but are we really going to deny bungies gun play and feeling of their games?

If you like punchy shooters...it will deliver.

Game will have a massive launch. its where it will be 6 months after that matters.

Looking forward to seeing more tomorrow if true.

Exactly. I'm not a big gaas guy but ill be in day one and play it for as long as it keeps me entertained.

It might not last more than 6 months for myself but if it's good enough ut will find an audience.

You would hope that they would have some good data on what it costs to run the support for a game. They will have learnt more than most studios from destiny. I think they will have some good ways to monetise Marathon and keep it supported.

No one was looking forward to Hell Divers 2 either and that blew up. Everyone was looking forward to Halo Infinite and that started off hot and then was quickly forgotten.

Because their studio has been a fucking mess and because just like BioWare, they've been a shell of their former selves for years?

Having hope in this to me is exactly the same as expecting something like Veilguard to have been successful.

And what helps the nails reach the coffin even quicker is that it's more gaas garbage.

Nobody wants this. And when I mean nobody, I mean the masses, not the hardcores that live on game forums.

Not every game, but New IP's (I know this is not a new ip but its been dormant for an eternity) that are GAAs/F2P multiplayer focused are at a higher risk of flopping if they release closer to GTA6 Online, yes, thats just common sense lol

Most other GAAS games seem to be doing just fine against GTA online.

GTA isnt even close to being the most popular gaas title.

This is a first person extraction shooter I doubt it has much overlap with the GTA online audience.

Plus this is Bungies first new game in ten years, that holds a hell of a lot of weight regardless of what the hive mind on GAF says.

Even Destiny at its worst state manages to hold #50 most played game on Steam. Jumps to #15 on dlc weeks.

Marathon being a major flop is unthinkable and unreasonable. Makes no sense.

Destiny community is actively hostile towards Marathon, if anything. If it's bad it'll flop. If it's good it won't.
