I had no doubt the launch would look like this. The interesting part will be how it keeps selling in 6 months or a year after the "hardcore" users already got it.


Just to be clear, I'm not saying it'll be bad, I'm saying I have no idea and it'll be interesting to watch.

I plan to get one next year. But I hope the PSSR ML receive more updates, learn more process, matures and evolve more quickly and developers get use to it's capabilities. I still believe in the life cycle of ps5 pro, 4k/60 fps with RT will be achieved even with bigger games. We are still scratching the surface, its only 1.0 PSSR ML.

I don't know if PS5 Pro will be a sales success, if it can match PS4 Pro in sales or if it will end up being a failure... but wouldn't it be sense to draw conclusions (in a way or other) in this regard to wait to see how sales behave beyond the first launch week of sales in which the most hardcore players preorder and buy day one?

I don't think the PS5 Pro sales story is written yet for better or worse. In its evolution it will be important to see factors and circumstances in the coming years.

PS4 Pro ended selling 15% vs PS4 in the time in which they coincided.

This is true. Same thing can be said for games as well. A game can start off selling well and then it's sales fall off hard. I think I heard someone say this happened with Metaphor but I never went and verified if it's true.

Even just 10% is already a win for Sony, and its profitable. It is just optional and Sony still prefers ps5 base to have good sales, which that is the case right now, ps5 slim is still growing strong.

Ps5pr0 is decent deal in the US, with ur salaries price of 700$(or close to 800$ including discdrive) its nothing, in many other countries tho its pretty terrible deal, in most countries avg(or rather median) salary is much lower, on top ps5pr0 costs much more, and on top of that scalpers really making crazy profit on discdrives, for example here in poland even online stores themselfs are scalping hard and this thing costs over 250$
Mr Piscatella obviously commenting on US market so no lies detected.

It's good, and I agree on that point, but that's not what I was referring to.
I was just saying that it seems premature to draw conclusions (one way or the other) about the PS5Pro's sales potential based on the launch week figures.

Remember when he claimed once that 25% of the Steam playerbase was playing Helldivers 2 at one point? Complete falsehoods. I've read folks say PS4 Pro was widely available after launch, but I can't recall myself. Either way, it is in line with PS4 Pro and that is what other analysts expected as well.

Edit: Pretty sure Circana only reports sold through numbers, not shipped. They would have no way of reporting shipped. That comes directly from Sony.

I agree. Ps4 pro got its percentage of all ps4 numbers after 4 years.

You left out a 3rd option. It could exceed PS4 Pro sales.

Like you just stating possibilities. What could lead to this outcome you might ask? The most obvious one is the fact there is no competing product (for at least a year, more likely 2 years and possibly 3) could outweigh any negative influence the historically high price will have.
