Still makes me laugh that people think this system will flop like the Wii U. I honestly never had a doubt. The moment they showed the product, it looked like a winner.
Still way too early to tell anything from these numbers

20./28. [3DS] Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo <ETC> (Nintendo) {2016.11.23} (¥2.700) - 4.136 / 150.355

Good thing it wasn't bundled in Japan and it outsold whatever game you like there (most likely).
Actually it's pretty easy to tell. It's by far a better product and more appealing than the Wii U. It's easier to understand than the Wii U. And the first 9 months of Switch consists of multiple system seller games and blows the Wii U's first 9 months out of the water.Still way too early to tell anything from these numbers
Peléo;232976738 said:Japan only is something close to this:
Legend of Zelda 1.7m
Adventures of Link 1.6m
A Link to the Past 1.2m
Ocarina of Time 1.5m
Majora's Mask 730k
Wind Waker 900k
Twilight Princess 600k
Skyward Sword 400k
While its not set in stone, I think its very reasonable to assume at this point that it is easily going to surpass the Wii U, possibly in its first full year (march to march) once MK8, Spaltoon 2, and Mario Odyssey are all on the system. Especially if a MHXX port is on the one, and a possible pokemon.

Also, the Wii U launched in the holidays, while this launched in March.

You're leaving out all the portable titles though. OOT 3D sold 600K, MM3D & ALBW sold over 400K. Phantom Hourglass was close to 1M, and Spirit Tracks was like 700K.
BoTW will probably outsell Skyward Sword in a week. It'll be interesting to see whether it can pass TP.
Wii Sports not being bundled in Japan has always been a pretty intriguing tidbit. And the amusing thing is, Nintendo Land also wasn't bundled in Japan.
Outselling the wii u is not an accomplishment
The person you quoted said Wii U. So, I'm going off of that. This will sell better than Wii U. Where it goes from there will be seen.Outselling the wii u is not an accomplishment
Minecraft Vita is back, but hardware sales keep dropping despite the bank holiday.

The WiiU is a bad example the console has sold just over 3m, surpassing it alone won't be enough for the Switch to be considered a success.
Well it was bundled occasionally in western markets but I don't think that was the norm either?
Still remember the bomba prices the game got back then.
Its also the successor to the 3DS, and the WiiU. I would expect at least 15million LTD for a system like that. Nintendo also have high expectations for it, expecting 110 million (worldwide).Still makes me laugh that people think this system will flop like the Wii U. I honestly never had a doubt. Famitsu data is out, and MHXX is at 255k. So I guess it's not just MC adjusting their data this week.
Famitsu: 1 270 332 units LTD.

I don't think the Switch can do as well as the Wii, while it's a possibility of course, I guess it will sell along the lines of the 3DS eventually.

Famitsu has...Snipperclips? And it sold 3,244 copies last week, bringing it to 10,062 as LTD? W-why did it appear all of a sudden.
New art styles and slopes
Good to see the Switch hold. If it continues to stand its ground before Splatoon 2 drops, it's going to dominate the Japan scene for the days to come.
Btw,
Switch LTD: 519.504
BotW LTD: 302.080
What are these 200k or so people buying the switch so early for??? I know the BotW number doesn't account for digital but that's just too big a gap to expect digital to fill.

A misunderstanding of something that Kimishima said.Where is this coming from?
Does japan have the joycons snipperclips bundle? Perhaps its that
15m for switch down from 32m+ combined for 3DS and Wii U does not seem so great. Nintendo has massive expectations for this thing.
But I agree. I'm expecting some real low numbers hardware numbers between Kart and Splatoon.

Its less than that, 3DS + WiiU is currently at about 26m. 3DS will probably sell at least 1 million more, so it will be around 27m. Its still a big drop, but i think that is expected.15m for switch down from 32m+ combined for 3DS and Wii U does not seem so great. Nintendo has massive expectations for this thing.

From Nintendo CEO, Kimishima, himself. I'm not sure if he specifically said 110 million, but he did say that its expected to sell as well as the Wii. I think something similar was said about the WiiU, but still, it shows that expecations arent low.Where is this coming from?
True, but the WiiU will sell like 3.4 million units. Even if that is an 100% overlap, 3DS alone will do maybe around 24 million. So a 15 million number is still a big drop.It doesn't work like that...There's a good amount of crossover between Wii U and 3DS fans

There's no such bundle in Japan, actually. And Famitsu clearly indicates it's for download cards. I think it's one of the rare times (along with Pokémon VC) that we've had download cards in the Top 30.

From what I recall, Kimishima's actual statement was that he thinks it has the potential to reach "Wii-like sales," which then got mistranslated into "expects Wii-like sales," and then taken as Nintendo expects to sell 110 million units.
Like, I remember people going crazy over Serkan Toto's initial tweet about him expecting Wii-like sales before it later came out that it was a slight mistranslation and Kimishima's actual statement was a lot more tame.

If you're buying a powerful handheld then Switch is probably what most are gonna be picking up now, even if Vita has more software.
3DS and Wii U combined are closer to 26m in Japan. It also isn't exactly reasonable to expect it to sell the combined number of the systems before it with the overlap of user bases.
Good to see the Switch hold. If it continues to stand its ground before Splatoon 2 drops, it's going to dominate the Japan scene for the days to come.
12M isn't a huge milestone to reach if you're going for both the handheld and console market.
In fact 12M should be a mid-low expectation for Switch in Japan, that would be less than half what the 3DS will do in the end.
i'm also curious about families with multiple kids and any possibility of buying multiple handhelds. I know it happened in the gbc/gba/ds generations. Did it still happen in the 3ds generation? cause I'd expect the odds of a family double-dipping to be way lower with the switch.
