Though not pertaining to the quote at hand, are 3DS software sales up YOY Chris?
Almost the same at first 3 months, it will fall behind after April ends.

Sorry man, I'm trying to tone it down because cats are getting increasingly bitter as the cream rises to the top.LOOOOOOL !!!
I was disappointed by Dave's first post in reaction to the sales but this more than made up for it !
Very well done to Vita, the "dead" console is doing rather well lately :-D.
8 screens and you've got a deal.16 sticks, 9 screens.
I just want 'em to get the screen to stick ratio right for once.
2 of these 3DS titles were announced last weeks and I don't see what's so amazing with PS3 lineup.
You need to look at the numbers for the past several years to see the videogame market contraction. It is real.

If not I'd love to know what Intelligent Systems have been working on. They have to have more than one team by now.Needs to happen. EAD secret game. Been in dev for nearly a year, right?
Right?
So what will you say if it's 1:1?![]()
I could easily see this too. I don't expect Nintendo to have a a graphical showcase for the next handheld. I could see it being equal to the Vita I guess...
2 screens, 2 sticks
count me in!
I was expecting the new SRW game to push the Vita over the 3DS.
Wouldn't it have more advanced graphical features/effects just based on the fact that its newer tech?
Why do people think that the Vita would be competition for a 3DS successor?
Nuff said.Nintendo would be stupid to go with old and withering tech...
Oh shit. That's true. Lolkirby's gotta be one of the most consistent franchises out there. it seems to sell right about half a million with every release (sometimes more).
I'm expecting them to go more powerful but how much probably depends on what price point they go for.Nintendo would be stupid to go with old and withering tech like Vita has with their next gen handheld. They could probably get a GPU that is twice as powerful, has DX11 features (OpenGL equivalent) at 28nm for maybe the same price as Vitas GPU. That is if tech is still advancing at the same pace and stuff go down in price. Heck I wonder how much better battery life it would get with an GPU at 28nm.

Japan is shifting to handhelds, bringing down hardware ASPs. The world (including Japan to an extent) is mostly just back to normal pre-Wii unit levels, because what expansion that thing braught was only temporary. You need to look at the numbers for the past several years to see the videogame market contraction. It is real.
I meant 1 screen, 1 stick >_>
If they did like the 3DS then yes, but I'm more concerned that they will cheapen out and get the same GPU/CPU that Vita has but clock it a bit higher and tweak it a bit. If they want to stay relevant on the market they need a handheld that developers can easily port over their smartphone/tablet games to Nintendo's console.

I really doubt they're going to repeat what they did with the Wii U.
So do you expect PS4 to sell 10 milion and Vita to sell 20 million?I'll just say it again: any perceived contraction is on Nintendo.

Considering they put in effort to get folks to easily port games from iOS to the Wii U of all things, I'd find it hard to believe they wouldn't do that for the 4DS. Why the heck would they get the same CPU/GPU that the Vita has? They're looking to have a cross-development environment between their console & portable. If anything they'll take the Wii U/Wii CPU/GPU and do some weird stuff with that. NES Remix 1&2 - 4/25What does the Wii U have releasing on disk between now and Mario Kart 8 on May 29?
PSP was 7 years old and nearing 20 million when the 3DS launched - if the 4DS launches in the next 24 months the Vita will from a hardware point still be attractive and still have customers to attract. It all depends how Sony can develop the 3rd Party economy system in the next two years. Especially with handheld versions of PS3/PS4 titles, I don't expect 3rd party to drop the system anytime soon.Vita will be competition for 4DS as much as PSP was competition for 3DS.

But let's first see what a new Nintendo handheld will bring to the table.
This is what I'm expecting along with an even bigger indie push and maybe targeting the some of the Vita's biggest contributors.

Sonic All-Star Racing Transformed - 5/15
Better than the rest of the world at least...
Also did the DS or Wii ever receive price cuts in their lifetime? After the initial 3DS price cut back in 2011, there hasn't been a single price cut in Japan. Now that they're doing the free game bundle (which basically no one here seems to know about?) they're essentially giving one. Do you think they might actually reduce the price of the XL?

theatrhythm will save the 3ds
Goddamn Yokai Watch is a juggernaut, will it ever stop?
Cant wait for Smash 3DS to come out, console needs to be revitalized asap, it pains me not seeing it at the top
Well, even your exceedingly bullish projections would still signal a decline for both platform lines. So I guess it isn't all on Nintendo then?If we're really doing this, how about 9/14.5 when all is said and done, in, oh, 2020?
12 million Vitas until December 31st 2018. Mark it on your calendar, and we'll talk then.
The C-Stick can be used for aerial attacks and for quick smash attacks. No C-Stick is just crazy. Is basically the same? Using the C-stick in Smash was never optimal for smash attacks, as you couldn't charge. I guess the circle pad isn't optimal either but this is way OT.
OMG, Yo-Kai Watch 2's boxart...lol.

See if you can spot what I'm laughing about.

Either way, the way the CPP works makes it very unlikely we'll get a second stick built in.
While they did run into a few problems, in the end, they were able to work things out and decided to go with Unity. One of the main reasons for this was because of Unity being a cross-platform game engine.
If we were to side with either one of iOS or Android, then wed only have about half the players, said Hata, as he explained that smartphone games should always be compatible to both operating systems.
Juggernaut is a very strong word.
