I don´t understand PS4s sales, considering this time it has no competition in Japan...
Let´s be clear, it is tracking behind WiiU by a fairly big amount.
PSV sales are really bad as well and looking like they are heading towards sub 10k units.
The obvious answer is that there is nothing the mass market gives a shit about which would get them to pick up a system.
Why is this so hard to understand?
Competition or not is irrelevant, the problem is there is nothing the average consumer wants.
One thing for sure though is with how a lot of devs have already stated its easier to work with the PS4 than the PS3 that will help a lot make the move over faster.
PSV I would expect sales to pick up around the 5th of June with folks buying one for Freedom Wars. But at the same time others might wait to hear day 1 word of mouth. It will be interesting to see if advertising is strongly ramped up next week considering the games release is not that far away and they need to hype it up more here. Showing off the thorn system to play off the popularity of Attack on Titan would most def be the way to go. The art style is fine as is, so they will have to capture peoples attention with the gameplay mechanics that the average consumer can relate to.
To be more correct back on the point of lack of software on the PS4, it kinda kicked itself in the ass with too many domestic cross platform titles instead of exclusives. Which means folks who had a PS3 figured Ill save myself 40,000 JPY by buying the PS3 version over buying a PS4 and the PS4 version. Though the upside is some of the PS3 games came with the ability to upgrade to a PS4 version for 1,000 JPY. Similar to what some titles did in the US. So folks eventually can switch over if they want.
But anyways the cross-platform bit worked against them here.
