I think individual users should be given the ability to hide likes if they want to, from their preference page. Maybe have it so you can turn all likes off per subforum if you want to avoid seeing them in Politics but appreciate kudos on your gaming posts. Also maybe have it so I can still hand out likes if I want, but the lists of likes and notifications are hidden.
Then people don't have to stress about not getting enough notifications for likes. Just focus on making a worthwhile contribution.

Giving one the settings to choose what likes they see just encourages eco Chambers and gives them a safe space. It's fine as is.

How does it encourage an echo chamber to let someone simply hide the likes other users have given posts? It would just essentially be opting out of the "like" system, you'd still have the entire board accessible and nothing else hidden.
I'm all for just not letting the likes get to you, just focus on your posts. But you do have users who appear to be affected by the amount of likes they receive, and I don't see what the harm would be in allowing them to opt of of the likes system and simply focus on posts.

When I told Nymph "welcome to my ignore list" or whatever I said, that was a stupid-ass post and I straight up apologized. What more can I do? Seriously tell me what to do and I will do it. As I've mentioned before, I have not seen any apology from you, perhaps due to my ignoring of you? I don't know and I don't care to get into the specific post timelines. I don't even remember a post where you said welcome to my ignore list. I just remember treating you like any other member of this board, until one day it became apparent to me you were not responding to my questions and had either placed me on ignore, or were simply manually ignoring my posts. You post here a lot, and I became sick of seeing so many posts by a person who was ignoring me, so you got an ignore back. I like it better this way now, no hard feelings. I still see the occasional post of yours, such as those in this thread that I unhide, but for the most part, there's nothing more you can do. Just have fun and enjoy the site. It's ok that one user on the site has decided to put you on ignore.

And to answer you question, no. In general I don't harbor ill will towards anyone on this site. If I don't like your post it might mean I missed it, I'm not checking literally every thread on this site and in general I try not to spam likes everywhere anymore because I assume it becomes annoying for people to see my name under every post. (keyword here is TRY)

Well for what it's worth, there's no secret GAF cabal pulling the strings from behind the scenes, and there hasn't been a "This week's agenda: Deperson JareBear" meeting. (That I've been notified of, at least
)Thinking about it though, I've noticed some posting patterns that suggest you might be motivated by getting likes rather than making conversation. Stuff like dropping into a thread early with a choice gif and then lurking/bailing for the duration, or posting a very specific in-joke and then handing out a 'reciprocal like' when you get a response.
Granted, these are fairly normal posting behaviours that I'm sure a lot of us engage in here and there, but the frequency coupled with changing your avatar to the like button for a while and bringing up this idea of a 'like boycott' gives off a certain image.

Doing some introspection, I guess it feels like I'm being baited into giving a like when I interact with or scroll by a Jare post. Now, I'm a very stubbon person- the kind that resents every advertisment they see or order they're given, so I guess that engenders a kind of subconscious contrarian heel-digging after a point because I don't like the feeling of being influenced toward taking certain actions. Does that make any sense? It's quite possible that I'll end up sounding like the nutter here.
And the out-of-nowhere bouts of crazy (ex. with

) don't help, so my advice there would be "write it in the reply box and give it five to ten minutes before clicking post in case you regret it later". I know that's not always easy when your blood's up though, still gets the better of me at times.Most importantly, don't take any of this as a personal knock against you, because it's not intended as such. You're a good poster and very much part of the GAF patchwork along with the rest of us, and I'm just trying to be brutally honest while breaking down my roundabout mental process in case it's of help. (Plus, I've been tied up with DMC5 and Sekiro for the past few weeks, so my GAF I/O in general has been somewhat reduced.)
Also, as others have said, metrics don't mean anything - they're best not taken seriously.
(Otherwise I'd be real salty about being nowhere near top 10 on the various GAF leaderboards. Utterly outrageous

Given most people seemingly can't be assed to get forum avatars, or they change them frequently I've largely stopped paying attention to peoples names for the most part and just focus on the content.
