Well, sounds like a much better realized Call of Pripyat in terms of technical and visual side of things.

If you want to give it a try I suggest Anomaly mod (but wait for full 1.5 release). It's completely standalone and free, doesn't require any data files of the original three games. It's open world free roam with some basic story objectives and includes maps with all 3 games and adds a bunch of new systems on top. It's an excellent experience if you're a fan of first person survival horror/post-apocalyptic games.

The amount of games that get 9.5/10 or 9/10 and are not even in the galaxy of being a true 8 is why I'm so skeptical of any FPS review due to the saturation of the genre.

A game that gets a 9.5/10 is a game that should be universally liked by virtually anybody who plays it, I tend to think it got a rating based on it's niche genre rather than the overall quality of the game.

Regarding RTX, I can certainly see a difference between on/off, but I feel like devs, in general, have gotten good enough with faking it over the years that it's just not night and day (pun intended) to me. Maybe when playing? I dunno.

I think it looks interesting. There is something about the Eastern European games that simply have a different feel than games produced in the West. (Witcher games, Kingdom Come, Gothic..) and while some can have their technical issues, the way they feel in atmopshere and "otherness" is just kinda unique.

Interesting to see a mix of scores, it seems like some reviewers did not enjoy the new direction of the open world design. I think this is one of those games that is very subjective.

I'm just after a new decent AAA FPS shooter that is not an online multiplayer or Battle Royale fest even though I do play those. I love a good campaign that I can take my time in. Got this on pre order to scratch my itch.

I am in the process of finishing up the second game right now. Am at the part where I am rescuing the dark one from the burning train. It’s been a wild ride so far. Excellent series and it sounds like the third game is a fitting finale.
