Tech Advisor - 5 / 5 stars
Despite the AI issues that we hope are fixed by launch, it's a game that we've found ourselves yearning for since going hands-on. We can't wait to play the full game in a few weeks time and deliver our final verdict and rating.

TechRaptor - 9.5 / 10
Metro Exodus builds on the gameplay of the previous titles and expands it into a much broader world, adding new mechanics and expanding the narrative without padding things too much.

TrueAchievements - 4.5 / 5 stars
Exodus is an overall excellent experience that succeeds at nearly everything it attempts to achieve.

Wccftech - 9 / 10
All in all, Metro Exodus is a fantastic game that you'd be worse off for missing out.

Hobby Consolas - Spanish - 90 / 100
Metro Exodus is an excellent story based shooter, which combines survival skills, exploration, stealth and combat. We love the post apocalyptic setting, based on the Metro novels by Dmitry Glukhovsky, and some open worlds elements.

Gadgets 360 - 9 / 10
Metro Exodus is a gorgeous post-apocalyptic spectacle set in a dangerous yet intriguing world. Barring its technical omissions on console, there's no reason to miss out on one of the more entertaining shooters in recent memory.

GamesRadar+ - 4.5 / 5 stars
A first-person survival shooter that's as engrossing as it is unnerving, Metro Exodus tells a powerfully human story in a world that's equal parts style and substance.

SECTOR.sk - Slovak - 9 / 10
New Metro game shows more from the post-apocalyptic world with some sandbox survival experience and thrilling story.

Screen Rant - 4.5 / 5 stars
The crowning achievement of the series, offering a post-apocalyptic experience that's terrifying.

Gameblog - French - 9 / 10
Metro Exodus is a masterpiece. Only the silence of the main character is a major problem. The game have a breathtaking artistic direction and visual quality. The staging is exceptional, it allows to put in abyss deep characters. It is hard to imagine a better adaptation for the novel of Glukhoovsky.

Metro GameCentral - 9 / 10
The best post-apocalyptic survival game of the generation, that innovates in terms of both its varied gameplay mechanics and its incisive storytelling.

GamePro - German - 90 / 100
An unforgettable end-time trip that combines linear levels and open world wonderfully.

Cerealkillerz - German - 9 / 10
Metro Exodus shows impressively how to set the scene for a Singleplayer Shooter Game and how important a good atmosphere can be. If you can live with small technical hiccups you'll get a gripping adventure with lots of playful freedom and probably already one of the best shooter games of the year.

ZTGD - 9 / 10
Exodus is a proper entry in the series and should be experienced by everyone who enjoys it. I wish they had touched more on some of the earlier threads of the series, but this is still one of the most engrossing games I have ever played.

GameSkinny - 9 / 10 stars
Metro Exodus, 4A's new first-person shooter, is almost a perfect game, introducing exciting new elements while still offering the classic Metro experience.

TheSixthAxis - 9 / 10
Metro Exodus provides an immersive FPS experience that marks a new milestone for the franchise. Its survival-horror, sandbox and shooter elements are remarkably well balanced, constituting an engaging and thrilling game that’ll leave you no stranger to a good jump scare

Cheat Code Central - 4.5 / 5
A voice to go with Artyom’s soul would have been nice, as well as some AI tweaking, but the thoughtful additions and improvements from previous Metro games gives Exodus a fresh experience for anyone ready for a wild train ride.

Windows Central - 4.5 / 5 stars
Exodus's combat has room for improvement, particularly when it comes to enemy A.I. behavior. The gunplay is tight and well-built, with an emphasis on customization, allowing you to play how you want to play.

Atomix - Spanish - 90 / 100
Metro Exodus is the culmination of a vision that deserved much more attention than it has received

SomosXbox - Spanish - 9 / 10
There are few complaints that can be attributed to Metro Exodus. It is not a perfect game, nor does it come to revolutionize a genre, nor does it pretend it.

Flickering Myth - 9 / 10
Slight disappointments aside, Metro Exodus is a fitting continuation of Artyom’s onward journey through the remains of a post-nuclear world. It’s a grim, yet beautiful, mix of open world and linear first person shooting that isn’t afraid to throw challenges at you from beginning to end.

Oyungezer Online - Turkish - 9 / 10
Metro: Exodus offers an amazing opportunity to go on a journey in the vast geography of Russia that is full of anger, pity, happiness, sadness, frustration, fear, worry and hope. A must play.

Electric Bento - 8.9 / 10
Metro Exodus doesn’t make the best first impression, once things start moving, it sure does leave a lasting one by the time the credits roll

Game Informer - 8.8 / 10
Artyom's journey across Russia is filled with interesting locales, a steady flow of new enemy types, and a cause worth fighting for

IGN Italy - Italian - 8.7 / 10
Turning to open-world without sacrifying its identity, Metro Exodus is a succesful odyssey by 4A Games.

WellPlayed - 8.5 / 10
Staying faithful to the series' roots while keeping up with the modern AAA market was always going to be a tough balancing act, but Metro Exodus nails it. Only a few rough edges hold it back from true greatness

Xbox Achievements - 85 / 100
After the confined spaces of Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light, Metro Exodus feels far more expansive, but never strays too far from what makes the series unique.

PlayStation Universe - 8.5 / 10
Metro Exodus is an amazing and beautiful game that offers a new style and experience from 2033 and Last Light. With polished visuals and an amazing soundtrack, the changes 4A Games have implemented create awesome environments and enjoyable gameplay, taking you across various landscapes of Europe. However, in doing so, the survival horror and dark, claustrophobic tone have almost entirely been left behind at the station.

DualShockers - 8.5 / 10
With an expanded world and deeper systems, Metro Exodus breaks out of the tunnels without losing the series' signature survival elements.

IGN Spain - Spanish - 8.5 / 10
It's easy to perceive that Metro Exodus is the evolution of the two previous 4A games. The open spaces, the good narrative and the mix of shooter, crafting and stealth get an adventure that could be better with a more coherent enemy AI and more technical stability.
If this is your first video game in the Metro series, you will be surprised. If you're a Metro fan, too.

IGN - 8.5 / 10
Metro Exodus brings its survival horror to the surface without sacrificing any of the series' signature tension.

Spaziogames - Italian - 8.5 / 10
Metro Exodus represents an evolution for the series and yet remains faithful to its roots and tells another great story to remember.

GameSpace - 8.5 / 10
Metro Exodus is a solid third entry to the series but doesn't escape without a few hiccups. Still, it's an immersive, expansive game well worth playing.

Everyeye.it - Italian - 8.5 / 10
Metro: Exodus is the final chapter of an important saga: the title created by 4A Games and produced by Deep Silver is not only an excellent shooter, characterized by a unique and inimitable gunplay, but it is also one of the last bastions FPS dedicated to the single player, still able to put the player at the center of the narrative.

Merlin'in Kazanı - Turkish - 81 / 100
Metro Exodus, takes the franchise to next level. Storytelling in general is good. However, without side quests, game loses its excitement. If you are a fan of Metro series, you should play the game without hesitation.

Handsome Phantom - 8 / 10
Metro has come a long way since the series' humble beginnings last generation. Each sequel builds on the foundation that its predecessors built yet can't quite shake some of the flaws that have always held them back a bit. Many of the issues found in 2033 and Last Light have been addressed. However, Metro Exodus still finds a way, especially as the game hits the third act, to remind us of many of the problems we've always had with this franchise.

PushStartPlay - 8 / 10
Metro Exodus Is Bigger and Better Then Its Predecessors

Hardcore Gamer - 4 / 5
Metro Exodus proves that after a six year break this franchise is just as relevant and enjoyable as ever.

PCGamesN - 8 / 10
Pulling its inspirations from across videogames, this radioactive romp is the strongest in the series, and one of the best post-apocalyptic games ever made.Harry Shepherd

Gaming Nexus - 8 / 10
Aside from some technical issues and a somewhat predicable story, Metro Exodus is a fun FPS with beautiful locations, lovable characters and a decent ending to Artyom's story.

Worth Playing - 8 / 10
Metro Exodus is an absolutely solid, all-around experience. Although the change from indoor to outdoor scenery is striking at first, it allows the gameplay to breathe and feel different from previous titles. The signature makeshift guns are paired well with the new crafting ability, and their lack of stopping power makes firefights meaningful and stealth sections tense. There are still issues here and there, and the presentation could be tighter, but this is a worthy sequel to a game that has earned its cult status throughout the years.

GameSpew - 8 / 10
Deviating from the series’ formula and taking the adventure above ground was a bold move for 4A Games, but it’s paid off. Metro Exodus can be unforgiving at times but it’s a rollicking, radioactive road-trip that’s sure to scratch that post-apocalyptic itch.

Twinfinite - 4 / 5
The survival horror tropes, linear moments, and emphasis on atmosphere haven't been lost, but Exodus proves that Metro can be much more than a journey through dark and decaying tunnels.

PC Invasion - 4 / 5 stars
Although far from perfect, Metro Exodus provides a breathtaking game experience across a post-nuclear apocalyptic world.

GamingBolt - 8 / 10
Metro Exodus is an ambitious sequel that retains the best parts of its predecessors, while also expanding upon their ideas in significant ways. A general lack of polish hurts those ambitions somewhat, but in the end, this is a game that is well worth the price of entry.

Guardian - 4 / 5 stars
The latest in the survivalist shooter game series takes you out of Moscow on a touching, tragic and engaging journey

GameSpot - 8 / 10
As Metro broadens its horizons, it loses some of the series' focus. But Exodus makes up for it with thrilling encounters and a crew you'll want to follow to the ends of the earth.

Game Revolution - 4 / 5 stars
I sincerely hope that with some patches the rough edges of Metro Exodus can be worked out. It’s almost there but has just enough technical issues to cause some frustration.

Telegraph - 4 / 5 stars
As the third entry in the fearsomely oppressive survival-shooter series, Metro Exodus appears to set its stool out early.

Digital Trends - 4 / 5 stars
Metro Exodus is a terrific post-apocalyptic shooter that expands on the series without ignoring its roots.

Fandom - 4 / 5
Fluctuating like a Geiger Counter between nihilism and utopianism, this game’s muddy morality is a thing of beauty in the current climate and could be one of 2019’s most important games as a result.

Pure Playstation - 7.9 / 10
Metro Exodus' excellent storytelling, art design and atmosphere make it the most engrossing entry in the trilogy. However, clunky, inconsistent design, poor AI and open-world hub areas which are severely underutilized prevent this ambitious project from fulfilling its full potential.

PC Gamer - 78 / 100
An incredible trip through a stunning post-apocalyptic world, let down by some uninspiring FPS combat.

COGconnected - 76 / 100
In my heart, I have strong feelings for Exodus, but I’ll forever be haunted by how outstanding a few more layers of polish could’ve made it.

Stevivor - 7.5 / 10
Metro Exodus feels like a solid simulacrum of someone else trying to make a Fallout game, for all the benefits and drawbacks that entails.

VideoGamer - 7 / 10
Metro Exodus injects life and light into the series, but its mechanics are still starting to creak; it's a good end to Artyom's journey, even if the story seems muffled.

USgamer - 3.5 / 5 stars
Metro Exodus is a solid conclusion for a cult series that made its name in rough charm. The open world and stealth systems of the conclusion to the trilogy are largely missteps, but it's when Metro Exodus returns to its horrific roots, with a bunch of caring comrades, that the game fires on all cylinders.

Press Start - 7 / 10
Metro Exodus shows some heart, and it's clear the developers have poured a lot into this third chapter of Artyom's story. Unfortunately, there are a lot of things that keep the game from hitting the standard set by its predecessors. Pacing is hamstrung by the ambitious misfire of an 'open-world', while performance issues and glitches mar much of Exodus.

Destructoid - 7 / 10
Metro Exodus is a tour-de-force in apocalyptic exploration. It offers a rich, evolving world, brought to life with stunning visuals, immersive sound and ghastly creatures. These thrills and chills are irritatingly tempered with menial tasks, poor voice acting, dull stealth and a soulless hero, all of which prevent Metro Exodus from achieving its true potential. Behind these grievances, however, lies a thrilling adventure for anyone who dares board The Aurora. Just prepare to get your ticket punched.

Daily Dot - 3.5 / 5 stars
Despite these gripes, it’s clear that 4A Games has sacrificed none of Metro’s survivalist spirit. Amid all the ruin, murder, and mutation, there’s a humanity to this game that few other shooters ever reach.

EGM - 7 / 10
The journey of Metro Exodus is more rollercoaster than train ride, with peaks and troughs rather than a steady level of quality throughout. Its technical issues make the product feel rushed, but these are worth suffering for a series that's ultimately heading down the right track.

We Got This Covered - 3.5 / 5 stars
Metro Exodus has potential in spades, but the bigger canvas exacerbates its uneven edges and the story is layered on too thick, robbing the world of mystery.

God is a Geek - 7 / 10
Metro Exodus feels like a game where its ambitions slightly outstrip its abilities. Visually stunning, it suffers a little too much from an obtuse system of storytelling and maps that are slightly too large creating long periods of doing nothing.

Game Rant - 3.5 / 5 stars
Metro Exodus does a decent job at blending the franchise's stealth/shooter gameplay with semi-open world environments, but still falls short of its predecessors.

Digitally Downloaded - 3 / 5 stars
Ultimately I simply didn’t get what I wanted - or expected - from Metro Exodus.

Push Square - 6 / 10
While Metro: Exodus delivers on its promise of deep and meaningful combat situations that let you approach encounters from any angle you can think of, its technical shortcomings are simply unforgivable. Combine that with a plot that doesn't answer its most intriguing questions and you've got an experience that will please at times, but will also disappoint those looking for something meaningful outside of the distribution of bullets.

Attack of the Fanboy - 3 / 5 stars
Following off the stellar Metro 2033 and Last Light, Exodus feels like a misstep for this series. This series has built a reputation on its quality, but Exodus falls flat in some ways that truly matter.

Eurogamer - Recommended
Far from just another map-clearing game, Metro's first above-ground outing is an atmospheric, characterful voyage across a ruined Russia.

VG247 - Unscored
By taking its grim post-apocalyptic world above ground into wide, open areas, Metro Exodus adds a smart and engaging twist while retaining the series’ identity.

Rock, Paper, Shotgun - Unscored
Regardless of its limitations, Exodus still deserves its place among its underground comrades. In many ways it’s better, and I’m very glad they didn’t just repeat the same subterranean journey again.

Metro Exodus drops you into an unforgiving, post-apocalyptic playground and gives you just enough tools to, maybe, make it out alive.

I've omitted some quotes because of the 30k character limit, you can view the rest directly on OC.

Good game but I expected more.
Why? No seriously, why?

83 is a pretty darn good game in my book. And i playtested this game beforehand and i can totally understand that grade.

Thanks for the thread.

Sounds good, the fact it's getting both 90+ but also 70's makes it more interesting IMO. The metro games have a rather unique style and it give some hope that they haven't abandoned it

Looks great and these games become a bargain very quickly, will pick this up on the cheap in a month or two for sure.

Metro Exodus Is Bigger and Better Then Its Predecessors

Should that be "better than its predecessors"?

That is fantastic news about Metro Exodus. I haven't dug too deep, but I wonder if it sits on that average 10 hour long campaign the series has had.

As expected to a surprise of no one. FPS gameplay was always subpar in these games just like it always was in S.TA.L.K.E.R. and BioShock series. 4A simply can't do better.

How can you give a game a perfect score with the "hope" that issues are fixed by launch.

Surely the score should reflect the state the game was in when it was reviewed.

This is why I dont trust just looking at scores.

Thinks mods influence posters politics. Promoted to QAnon Editor.
The last two games were boring, I would not expect much from this one.

Oof. I was right with you until you mentioned STALKER. Or maybe I'm just spoiled by the myriad of mods for it lol. But yeah, that quote about Metro Exodus really stands out like a sore thumb among all these reviews. Same author also pointed out that while the world is big there's not much interactivity with it beyond shooting things. From what I've read so far that game is basically an open world version of its prequels, with many of the same positives and negatives.

Maybe (I did not played these games with mods), cuz even in Call of Pripyat FPS gameplay was at the same level as in previous games, well.... maybe slightly better.

Well, sounds like a much better realized Call of Pripyat in terms of technical and visual side of things.

If you want to give it a try I suggest Anomaly mod (but wait for full 1.5 release). It's completely standalone and free, doesn't require any data files of the original three games. It's open world free roam with some basic story objectives and includes maps with all 3 games and adds a bunch of new systems on top. It's an excellent experience if you're a fan of first person survival horror/post-apocalyptic games.

The amount of games that get 9.5/10 or 9/10 and are not even in the galaxy of being a true 8 is why I'm so skeptical of any FPS review due to the saturation of the genre.

A game that gets a 9.5/10 is a game that should be universally liked by virtually anybody who plays it, I tend to think it got a rating based on it's niche genre rather than the overall quality of the game.

Regarding RTX, I can certainly see a difference between on/off, but I feel like devs, in general, have gotten good enough with faking it over the years that it's just not night and day (pun intended) to me. Maybe when playing? I dunno.

Edit: The more I watch, the more I can appreciate it. Still, unless I stopped and looked for it, I probably wouldn't notice...

Do any of these reviews mention the Steam debacle? Apparently it's fine to knock down the score if the game isn't diverse enough or doesn't reflect the political views of the reviewer, but informing consumers about sh*itty business practices is too much to ask.

I think it looks interesting. There is something about the Eastern European games that simply have a different feel than games produced in the West. (Witcher games, Kingdom Come, Gothic..) and while some can have their technical issues, the way they feel in atmopshere and "otherness" is just kinda unique.

Are the first two still worth playing on PS4. They are bundled in the redux edition on PSN at the moment for quite cheap. I think I briefly played the first one and the shooting was a bit odd feeling and never got back in to it. Willing to give it another shot though on any recommendations.

Definitely a game I want to play, but one I will wait on. I enjoyed Last LIght immensely, but wasn't worth the full price at the time. I get the feeling this game will be similar. Will probably pick it up when it drops below 40 USD.

About what I expected, honestly. Wonder what their in-house expectations are on PC sales.

Probably substantial since they basically threatened a lack of PC version for future games in the series if this one underperforms on the PC. My guess is ~350-500k.

I'm so ready for this, this series is just so fucking good. I know the scores might look a bit lower than it was to be expected given how the game looks, but keep in mind these are some niche ass games, normies need not apply. Buy this shit (unless you're a PC bro that feels really bad about the EGS situation, in which case you're excused).

RTX looks incredible, especially outdoors. Perhaps by the time it launches on PC I'll have an RTX card. However, my 970 is still perfectly fine for 1080p gaming...

Interesting to see a mix of scores, it seems like some reviewers did not enjoy the new direction of the open world design. I think this is one of those games that is very subjective.

I'm just after a new decent AAA FPS shooter that is not an online multiplayer or Battle Royale fest even though I do play those. I love a good campaign that I can take my time in. Got this on pre order to scratch my itch.

Playing it since 5 days on my X. Loving it, haven’t had such a great time with a single player FPS since HL2 Episode 2.

really liked the first 2 games. both of those games were dope but far from perfect and so i can see this game being good but flawed too. some people have some weird expectations for games

Wow nice, it’s reviewing really well!
I am in the process of finishing up the second game right now. Am at the part where I am rescuing the dark one from the burning train. It’s been a wild ride so far. Excellent series and it sounds like the third game is a fitting finale.
