Mets to sign Tim Tebow to minor league deal

Not surprised, Jeff needed to sell spring training tickets. The Wilpon's, there Mets owners, for those that don't know, were huge investors in Bernie Madoff s Ponzi scheme. So they do anything get money injected into the franchise.

They're a joke. This franchise is a joke.

Can someone explain to me how he could and the timeframe it would take to make the transition from the minors to the majors? Which class (AAA, AA, etc.) is he going to start out at?

AAA? AA? Hahahaha

He'll start in rookie ball, maybe low short season single A if he's actually not complete crap at spring training.

If he's actually able to hit, and field, and not be a liability... He still won't make it to the majors because the Mets have a ton of outfielders already. But if he does. On theory. It'll take 3 years minimum

Thanks for this, I figured that it would still be a long shot for him to actually play for the Mets, but I didn't know how low they would start him at or how long it would take for him to move up.

Will he better or worse than Jordan? I'm betting on worse.

Worse, I'm guessing. I still think people sleep on MJ's numbers when he played AA ball, for a guy who hadn't played ball since high school the AA numbers MJ put up weren't that bad considering a lot of MLB prospects don't even survive AA.

If Tebow ends up being decent then good for him. But I have a hunch Tebow's going to make MJs numbers look good in comparison.

We'll see more athletes cross over into other sports, the fact that more haven't is actually kinda weird.

FYI, major league teams get no benefit from that. Minor league teams are separately owned and opvirtua. The players are under control by the MLB club, but virtually nothing else is.

They'll benefit if he plays in Brooklyn, their short-season A ball team. And he probably will. The Mets owners own the Cyclones.

That's true, with some exceptions, like the Brookyln Cyclones which are owned by the Mets. No surprise, that's where Tebow will likely appear.

I love The Mets but hate the owners. I fully believe Cespedes will end up a Met. I might be naive but the guy looks like he wants to play here. The Coupons might have a riot on their hands if he leaves. Tear down Citifield if he leaves, I say.

Agreed. Cespedes is going to stay a Met for next season, he's the primary factor in them making a playoff run this season. The Wilpons are not that stupid, and are in better financial footing than they were during the whole Madoff mess, so they can afford to pay him.
