ROAD FC's Mung Hong Jung Comments on DREAM.18/GLORY 4

Another aspect I was shocked by were the Japanese officials. One example would be one of DREAM’s most important figures; executive producer Keiichi Sasahara. This once powerful figure in JMMA was now no different from an intern. He was literally ticketing people at the VIP entrance. That was a really shocking moment for me.

Also one of DREAM’s organizers, REAL ENTERTAINMENT’s President Kato, was running around sweating and clutching the microphone trying to get everything organized. Because we have someone with that job position at ROAD FC, I knew exactly what was going on. He was trying to make sure there would be no disruptions or mistakes in the tournament. He looked incredibly stressed and haggard.

Amidst all this the young 35 year old GLORY representative was sitting down comfortably. I began to feel sad and bitter about this situation. Not only was this event funded by foreign funds but also the once powerful Japanese MMA figureheads were working like they were a bunch of interns. I then noticed DEEP’s Saeki and PANCRASE’s Masakazu Sakai sitting down looking devastated.

my first MMA event was K-1 ROMANEX, those were the days... main event Bob Sapp vs Fujita, Ignashov getting subbed by a pro wrestler, Fat Machida vs Greco, Greco who would eventually help train Sapp into his prime as a kickboxer in 2005.

Great OT, you did gud

I love Machida too, but he went and became a can.

Nice new OT.

With the decent card on display and with only a 3 hour flight, I'm really tempted to go to the UFC Japan event. The fact that it'd be expensive as fuck is the only drawback.

man, 5 favorite fighters... i was always more of a K-1 guy you know.

K-1:

JLB
Feitosa
Aerts
Sefo
Schilt

MAX:

Souwer
Zambidis
Buakaw
Masato (actually earned most of his wins, unlike Musashi)
Kyshenko

MMA:

KID (grew up watching him)
Pride-era Shogun

1. The first full card I watched was UFC 98 headlined by Rashad vs. Machida. Great card
2. My favorite active fighters are GSP, Korean Zombie, Machida, Wanderlei Silva, and Anthony Pettis
3. The first show I attended was UFC 145: Jones vs. Evans. The card was good but the most memorable thing is some French guy spilling a tiny bit of beer on my back and then buying a shit ton of drinks for me

We've finally got the OT that MMA-GAF deserves. Absolutely beautiful, succinct, and complete with Heel's Bad-MMA Schedule. Fucking love it.

1. First MMA Show you remember watching
2. 5 favorite fighters
3. first MMA show you've attended (if any) or first MMA show you want to attend
  1. 2010.08.07 - UFC 117: Silva v. Sonnen
  2. In no particular order:
    • Wanderlei Silva
    • Chan Sung Jung
    • Donald Cerrone
    • Johny Hendricks
    • Alistair Overeem
  3. 2011.03.26 - UFC Fight Night: Nogueira vs. Davis - I would have loved to go to the UFC on Fox 5 show but getting the good seats ain't cheap.

Also, welcome back, McKayla-GAF.

1) Hmm, shit. One of the really old ones for sure, early 90s. My buddy had one of those hacked cable boxes so we saw all the PPV shows for free, and the MMA shows were our favorites. I'm going to say I was maybe 13 or 14 years old. Can't remember specifically, not sure they even had numbers then.

2) Only doing current guys. Rashad Evans (we were on a wrestling team together in HS), GSP, Spider, Condit, MacDonald

3) None. Far too pricey now.

1. First MMA Show you remember watching

When I got into the sport it was about 2001 and the only MMA you could watch was DVD's in the UK, borrowed a friends Pride and UFC ones, I think the first event I watched out of them would have been UFC 34 (Hughes beat Newton).

2. 5 favorite fighters

In no order: Brad Pickett, Canderson, Condit, Reem and Penn.

3. first MMA show you've attended

UFC 105 in Manchester, met Bisping (nice guy) Hardy (nice guy) Swick (really nice guy) and Couture (nicest guy).
