Modern action adventure games in the vein of Heat, Kane & Lynch, Max Payne?

What the title states.

Maybe its slipped by me, but have there been any recent action pumping games that are reminiscent of such? Already got my eyes on El Paso elsewhere, but I'm curious if there is more out there that I'm unfamiliar with. Something like an over the top action, adrenaline-pumping action flick in game format. It seems to be a barren field.

For the record, I'm familiar with Rockay city and PAYDAY vaguely carrying such a theme, but I'm on the lookout for something more SP centric. Also, I'm specifically seeking 3D games and not 2D. Preferably in an urban setting.

The max payne remaster collection is your best bet, but it's not out yet.

You could try the mafia remaster games maybe.

Maybe sleeping dogs or watch dogs1, i'm really scraping the barrel here...

Nothing is quite similar to kane and lynch or mp.

Stranglehold if you still have a ps3...

Or sleeping dogs.
Played Sleeping dogs already. It was rad. Tfw Sleeping dogs 2 is not going to happen...

Not much into remakes/remasters, Wolfman. Especially, games I've played already in the past. I'm a proponent of developers pushing new ideas and worlds.

Appreciate the suggerimenti though.

As Italian as AI translation allows me to be.

Arrested Development Flirt GIF

Stranglehold is neat, but I'm thinking of games released in the past 5 or so years.

It goes on sale on GoG frequently too. I played through last year or the previous for the first time and had a lot of fun. It's a bit of a mindless power fantasy but it also doesn't overstay it's welcome.

well given that not a single one of the games you listed are action adventures... no... there never were action adventures like those.

but if you meant linear shooters... like... you know, what those games you listed are...
the closest I think would be something like Trepang2 maybe? but that's light on story and is first person. but it has bullettime and is VERY heavy on the action aspect.

It's a shame the Heat video game developed by gearbox which was based on the 1995 film was cancelled.

That could have been great.

Robocop: Rogue City is exactly what you want. I just played it through and it's a great blast - really fun gory, visceral action.... a very playable AA release in the vein of those you namechecked.

You could try the new robocop but it is in first person and not exactly hard boiled...
Appreciate the reminder. Already got these on my "TODO list", but not really what I inquired about. They're both FPS. Maybe I should've been more specific and mentioned third person.

I'm thinking more in line with an action thriller; heists, car chases, undercover cops, anti-heroes, and rugged types in shoot out/stand off kind of deal that have come out in the recent years.

There really isn't anything like this, we aren't allowed to have cool games anymore.
Unfortunately, it seems like you're not off. Its gotten weirdly difficult to find something akin to it in the current gaming landscape.

No dude you were specific enough but there is really nothing similar in third person.

yup, I don't think a game like this came out in the last decade or so.
Watch dogs 1 try to be a bit hard boiled, gunplay is not complete shit and it has rallenty mode but it's older than 5 years (but it still look decent on pc).

(I know i'm reaching)

You could try Control but it is more industrial themed with elements of brutalist office environments. It has superpowers though. Another is Quantum Break. Also has superpowers. Both by Max Payne developer.

If You want 2D indies, try Gemini Rue.
it's not in modern times, instead scifi interplanetary detective with 2000's style scifi,
and point and click, but it had cover system gunplay, the story is kind of maybe, what You want.

I too want to see if there is any new games like what You want.
unfortunately, as far as I know, they are rare nowadays

Wanted Dead is what you're looking for. Vanquish also comes to mind, but it's not in an urban setting. Then Total Overdose on PS2 and it's sequel Chili Con Carnage on psp.
As for newer games maybe The Division, Just Cause 3-4, Mafia 1-3, Hitman, Watch Dogs Legion.
