New Castlevania AAA to be announced in 2025

AAA 2d game please.
Jeff Goldblum What GIF by The Late Late Show with James Corden

Sorry. Don't want to be that guy, but AAA and 2D don't really line up anymore. I love 2D as much as the next retro gamer, but AAA is more about budget and scale than about quality and 2D just doesn't need a AAA budget or AAA scale. The best 2D games of the past decade..... none of them have been AAA games.

Am I the only one who has no interest in a AAA Castlevania. Give me a 2D Castlevania or SOTN 2 with the exact same graphics that it had on the PS1. That's how I want my Castlevania. Not a 3D God of War clone.

2d exploration more memorable than 3d
that depends , if it will have good level design 3d is way more immersive

tell me a good 2d game that has better level design than bloodborne , dark souls 3 , deus ex , prey , dishonored

Continue the relationship with the Dead Cells guys and have them make a real metroidvania with their graphical style and combat.

He's making Bloodstained RotN2 :messenger_winking_tongue:
Yeah, and I'm looking forward to it. Bloodstained was great; I kickstarted it. But I love the Castlevania IP, the world of Castlevania. I love Dracula and Alucard and the Belmonts, even the recurring enemies. RoTN is really good, but its just not the same, and Castlevania just won't be the same without Igarashi.

That said, I'd love Castlevania to finally have its Metroid Prime moment.

Hope it's not story driven but exploration driven.
Story driven games are more memorable, for sure... but I have much more fun with exploration driven games, period.
If they can do both, great - but I do hope they'll focus on the gameplay first.

Plot twist: the Bloodborne remake is the new Castlevania.
But, seriously, pick the Castlevania 3 Netflix voice cast, setting and plot and make it 3D and we're golden.

This might be a hot take but I played Lords of Shadow for the first time not that long ago and it’s really good. Maybe it’s just because I didn’t play it in 2010 and that style of game was so played out back then, but it was fun.
I remember that the trailers were hype as fuck.

The shitstorm after the first trailer will be amazing to watch.
Castlevania fans are firmly divided between 2D and 3D, with very few exceptions. This one choice alone is already a damned if you do, damned if you don’t situation. And if it’s 3D, the negativity from the 3D episodes haters will never stop until the game has been out for a while and it’s actually good. Meanwhile, the negativity from the 2D haters if it’s 2D will last forever.

I fucking hated it back in 2010. Felt like a poor mans God of War. I should give it another chance on PC.

Let's do this, please. Stop this nonsense that Castlevania is uniquely unsuited to 3D.

Bloodborne basically IS a 3D Castlevania. Just do that, except with Dracula and Mer-Men.

You didn't even mention flying Medusa heads? You, sir, are a fake fan, and shouldn't say anything about what Castlevania should and shouldn't be! Only my very specific demands and opinions about what makes Castlevania Castlevania are valid and should be heard.

You see, I have compiled a 1,294 page exhaustive document detailing the perfect Castlevania formula, right down to the millisecond delays of specific animation frames and the possible color palettes on the protagonists pants. Any deviations from my vision are not accepted.

This is 100% true. Souls and BB are what Castlevania was meant to be in 3D.

I personally would like Vanillaware try their hand at a 2d Castlevania but if it's going to be 3D it was to be a spin of the souls gameplay feel.

Mercury Steam...no fucking stealth sections this time!
Other than that request, just do what you do.

(if you have time while you are working on metroid 6 please and thank you...but don't fuck up metroid 6 either)

Castlevania in Ue5 engine that plays like Ninja Gaiden 2 Black remake will be so impressive. But I still enjoyed the CVSOTN in Ps1 even at 2d. Too bad 2D does not gonna sell anymore in this generation of gamers.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, Cave Story, and Dungeon Explorer II if limited to fully traversable world. Earthworm Jim, Darkwing Duck, and Dragon Quest V Remake if we are talking about levels.

The platforming in those is awful. The first Ninja Gaiden for the Xbox was the closest 3D equivalent.

How about a totally new game... no more stupid remakes.
Yeah I prefer new games too. So tired of people suggesting remakes/remasters. I'd rather get the 1999 game but without IGA there really is no Castlevania. IP to me is dead since Bloodstained exists and if they make a game out of the Netflix series then that is just yuck since the Netflix series is poor form Castlevania. I'd rather see a new 3Dvania that improves on Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness.

Thank goodness for Pseudoregalia and later this year Metro Gravity.
