NVIDIA has shared benchmarks for the RTX 5090, 5080, 5070 Ti, and 5070 in two games that may be of gamers interest for comparison. These benchmarks include two titles: Resident Evil 4 (with ray tracing but without DLSS) and Horizon Forbidden West (without ray tracing, using DLSS Super Resolution but not DLSS (M)FG).

According to these figures, the RTX 5090 demonstrates a 33% performance increase over the RTX 4090 in these two games. Similarly, the RTX 5080 shows a 15% improvement, while the RTX 5070 Ti and 5070 are approximately 20% faster than their Ada Lovelace predecessors.

4 games average (A Plague Tale Requiem, Far Cry 6, Resident Evil, Horizon Forbidden West:

RTX 5090 vs RTX 4090: 34.18%

RTX 5080 vs RTX 4080: 24.58%

RTX 5070 Ti vs RTX 4070 Ti: 28.63%

RTX 5070 vs RTX RTX 4070: 28%

The range goes from 15% to 43.2%.

RTX 5070 Ti seems to be the best gen on gen upgrade. Only 20% true, but it does have a $50 price cut and still comes with MFG and the other new features.

5090 appears to be the largest upgrade in performance, but that increase is accompanied by a large increase in price as well, so little gain over the 4090 in value, unless you really need 32GB for some reason.

These charts are so confusing. So even with MLG the performance of 5070TI vs 4070ti isnt even 4x? It's barely twice the performance? Or am I reading this chart wrong. Raster is even worse than I hoped. What the fuck.
Those charts would be DLSS3/4 frame generation vs DLSS4 multi frame generation. So it's 2x vs 4x, hence why you're seeing twice the performance or more, but nowhere near four times.

Agree with this. 5070 Ti looks nice, and 5090 is a reasonable jump over the 4090.

Everything else looks pretty sus

should be a monster upgrade to go 3080 10gb -> 5080

very excited, dunno why you guys are mad about framegen. it's the future, so get used to it

Also wasn't the wattage also raised to 570W. That means the W to Performance ratio should be nearly the same as the 4090. I'm looking forward to independent benchmarks.

This reminds me of Cernys words on his last presentation that we reached peak in terms of architectural efficiency for raster performance and new breakthroughs will come from RT performance and AI.
Nvidia made the right choice to further improve Tensor/RT performance to make full RT games playable even on lower models like the 5070

Any midrange card can already max out pure raster (and light RT) at very high fps

The biggest disappointment to me was black myth wukong and cyberpunk 2077 at native 4k without frame generation. I'd have thought the improvement on RT cores and other doohicky that it would get at least double what the 4090s 24 fps can get with the path tracing and other ray tracing turn on to max.

Fine it doesn't double in raster but ray tracing heavy games then I'm feeling underwhelmed.

Has that ever happened gen on gen?

Ray tracing improvement doubled? I don't think we've had enough generations to figure that out.

Its a small improvement in rasterization which is less than we got on the last release but I'd have hoped it was directly because nvidia concentrated on ray tracing improvements but both black myth wukong and cyberpunk 2077 with path tracing enabled doesn't show the improvement I was hoping.

This.

We are only going to see further and further diminishing returns in raster performance, and AI/upscaling/frame generation technologies are only going to continue to get better and better.

You better damn well believe that next-gen consoles are going to rely on very similar technologies.

I will weep tears of joy if I never see another 30fps game again
