I'm confused about these RTX remakes. I understand they're being made by modders, but the marketing seems more like something made by Nvidia outsourced to a developer studio.
They are made by Nvidia, to show off the capabilities of RT. Thats my understanding anyway. Pretty sure thats how it was with Quake 2 anyway.

Don’t wanna be that guy, but I prefer the darker image of the non-RTX picture. Those bright lights are way too much with RTX.

Also, the non-RTX image is modded, right? Because if it’s the original, it still looks great lol.

Do you think we'll come to the point that one push of a slider, ray tracing (RTX Remix) will be activated for older games?

I can't but think that situation is much closer for Nvidia's marketing.

The team remaking it seem to be looking for random people to do most of the new assets in the game. I wouldnt expect this to release anytime soon based on their twitter page. At the very least in 5 years or so.
Yeah when this was revealed I thought it was a year out. Now? It may as well be vaporware lol

The orange and black part of the gravity gun always looked like the texture was put on wrong so I'm glad to see a changed version of it. Like it was rotated 90 degrees or something.

nvidia is cool but hey are pushing old games to showcase their new tech which is a pretty funny situation IMO. Modern gaming is really that bad.

Its one of the easiest ways to show how transformative RTX features are.
Cuz we remember the old game then we see the Remix version and our minds are blown.

Alan Wake 2 and Cyberpunk are both amazing showcases of what RT can do.
But Portal RTX absolutely floored me the first time I saw light naturally propagating through portals.
Even just general scenes were crazy and in my head this is always what portal looked like..
I ended up wasting alot of time just seeing all the ways i could play with light and portals.

Why not play Black Mesa?
i played at hl1 remake like... 15 years ago
pretty sure it was black mesa, but when i google "black mesa" the screenshots looks quite a bit different.
maybe i played an old dev build.

ill probably give the latest black mesa a try, but id love a state-of-the-art HL1 remake.
give it brutal PC requirements, like path-tracing required.

Here's a 57 minute femo from last year's Gamescom for anyone who's wants to see how it looks in gameplay:

The thing should looks bonkers with state of the art lighting when it releases.
