I remember 20 years ago and longer, video games used to be advertised on TV with some live action skit, followed by rapid fire clips of the game, does anyone remember that?
I was wondering when they stopped doing ads like that, as far I remember they disappeared after 2004 in favor of CG trailers, in fact, I was wondering if games are advertised on TV at all anymore, the last ones I saw were for Fallout 4 (tbf, I don't watch live TV anymore), though I'd be willing to bet RDRII had them, but is it still a thing now?
I also remember a website that had a files archive of all old game TV commercials, but I can't remember what it was and if it's still online, does anyone remember this?
This is a great example of the kind of ad I'm talking about, it's very funny that 2003 would advertise a Final Fantasy game with a phone sex hotline joke.
Some other good examples.
And probably the most infamous one, I do remember Nintendo stopped with the edgy marketing after Reggie joined it seems.
