One game that deserves a remaster is this masterpiece from the PS2 Era.

Extermination Originally release back in March 8, 2001 for the PS2.

Developer: Deep Space
Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment
Director(s) : Yuzo Sugano

Extermination is a survival horror game, and as such players are encouraged to run whenever they can. This idea is reinforced by the fact that ammunition is limited for the main character's weapons (unlimited ammo refills are located in very few places), and most enemies, especially the larger or human descended types, typically take a lot of damage before being defeated. Another element of survival horror that holds true is that ammo for special weapons (such as the shotgun, flamethrower, grenade launcher, and the rocket launcher) is limited from the get-go.

Extermination is a deeply underrated PS2 banger

Its the game where you play on a ship / boat at some point?

If it is , it resembles a lot a RE game , it was nice to play it...would play a remake/remaster

Have to look on my collection , pretty sure I have it because of the PS2 era got most of the horror titles.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
First time I hear about this one, so yeah thanks OP. Imo this is the kind of game that could use a remaster, instead of one-gen-old games that are still perfectly playable.

Anyway... stealth PS2 hidden gems thread? Have another one:

The fucking second sight is on steam but not the game with the best telekinesis out of any videogame ever created.

When someone say something that trigger you.
I mean, that's naturally what I thought, but then it seemed that people were also using it for when the other user had some kind of triggered reaction to something. IDK, never liked it for that reason.

The virgin Second Sight versus the chad PsyOps: The Mindgate Conspiracy.

Always has been and always will be the superior game. :messenger_sunglasses:

You can use it as you want, sometimes i put a praise the sun reaction in response to an angry post to throw a curveball and mess with people :lollipop_squinting:

I was always curious about this game but never got around to it. I'd be down for a remake or remaster cause I'd finally check it out.

THIS I can get behind. My god, I swear the only other demo I played as much this was the Butcher's Bay demo. Psi-Ops was SO much fun.

I never looked at that game as a masterpiece in any way, but I'm down for making any of this stuff available on modern systems.

Psi-Ops was amazing for its time. I think I might still have a physical copy around and might even have Xbox OG one if I remember correctly.

Need to see if I have a ROM for it, might be good to try and see what emulation and higher res does here.

Edit: What I would love to see is proper Xenosaga trilogy Remake. That would be glorious.

And while we are at it, let’s see Atlus’ Digital Devil and Raidou games Remade in P5R / P3R engine.

Game was fucking awesome. Might have been the first M rated RPG I ever played.
Brilliant game and one of the best JRPGs on PS2, the system with literally dozens of great JRPGs.

I would love to see a remaster of all the Shadow Hearts games but this one in particular needs to be available to more people.

I liked this more than FFX on PS2 TBH.
I will be honest and it’s my hot take. I don’t like FFX all that much. It’s way too rigid in its zones and while characters were generally well done, story was way too convoluted.

Shadow Hearts was just so well done with novel setup in that timeline, great story and characters.m

Edit: I might have to postpone my Henry adventures and fire up some PS2 gems instead. 😅

Masterpiece? Gooby please.

Was a good game though. Released quite close to launch of PS2 iirc. Shame the planned sequel was canned.

I think what set Shadow Hearts apart (at the time) was its turn based combat with the ring. It spruced up a genre and made it so you were actively engaged with every battle. Expedition 33 does this as well, which is one of the many reasons it’s my most wanted game at the moment.

Extermination was a fun game, but it was simply a poor man's resident evil. It really doesn't have much of a reason to exist in a market where Resident Evil is still relevant.

One unironically great game was bujingai with none other than Dirge of Cerberus' Genesis (aka Gackt)
SU2shmr.jpeg

Great action game with stylish wuxia movie type moves (you could walk on walls, jump on poles, etc.)
Plus the intro movie is Gackt practicing katas while zapping through the cosmos like a fabulous visual kei comet

I'd wish upon a star for a remake by the DMC team, but i already used mine to make sure GTA 6 release this year.

This feels like the Syphon Filter of the PS2 era.

Games that you remember fondly until you actually go back and play them, and realise they're janky AF.

Really enjoyed this back in the day. Found out about the regional differences (translation, dub, MC redesign) years later and still think that was a really odd move.

Just download the iso and texture pack. Then crank up the graphics settings in the ps2 emulator. There's quite a few people over at gbatemp making ai upscaled hd texture packs for ps2 games.
