Onimusha 2 Samurai's Destiny Remastered Announced

I got Onimusha 1 on PS4 and will definitely grab Onimusha 2 when it comes out. I played and enjoyed Onimusha 3 on the PS2 and thought it was pretty cool, especially the intro movie. It felt like a more thoughtful Devil May Cry. I never played Onimusha 4, but I would love a PS5 port of that one too. It was very interesting, but it came out pretty late in the PS2's lifecycle, and I had moved on to other games by then. I think it is strange that they never introduced Samanosuke into a MvC game, although they did use the main guy from Onimusha 4 in Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom. Oooh TvC is another game I'd love to have a modern port.

Hell yeah! I just played it for the first time a couple of months ago using PCSX2, loved Gogandantes, best part of the game imo. I made the game way harder than it should have been by not utilizing the trading system properly in the beginning. Its weird though, after some point in the story you can no longer use your coins, at least i did not found a way. Made me rage a bunch of times too. Hard game. I guess i will not play Oni 3 now and just wait for a remaster.

I really thought they abandoned these remasters. I can only expect a low effort port like the first one. Cannot wait for Onimusha 3. That is the best IMO.

Yes! This game is amazing! Nioh 2 basically copied a ton of it’s levels, especially the mine in the mountain.

I paid good money for this Dynex!
Okay, now THIS is fucking awesome. Fantastic game that tries some really interesting twists on the original. I think 1 is the better, more focused game overall (and I did miss the horror vibes), but 2 is just such a damn good game in terms of combat, environs, etc. Capcom did a good job with the remaster of Onimusha 1, so I'm hoping this continues that trend.

Thanks Thank You GIF by BLKBOK

Capcom 2025 is here! Now all we need next is Dino Crisis.

Yeah Yeah, for me its the same of prioritizing a DMC 2 remaster, over DMC 3 or 4, sometimes skipping a number is not a bad idea

not liking it as much as the others in the series, ok... but comparing it to DMC2 is going too far...

but also, a DMC2 remake however, now that would be an idea. maybe even making it in the style of a PS2 game, but completely redone.
and then selling it as a new Trilogy bundle so that everyone can finally play the whole original trilogy without getting suicidal thoughts while playing 2

I only ever played Warlords, I can finally get to play 2!

I guess they could never decide to release the rest of games since Warlords but now with the new entry it is the right time.

Fuck you Capcom, why remaster this one ? Where is 3?
2 goes between 1 and 3.

They released a remaster of Onimusha 1, now a remaster of Onimusha 2. After it, somewhere in the future pretty likely they will release a remaster of Onimusha 3.

Seems to be the similar technique that Gaiden 2 Black did (as others did in the past). Re-release a prior entry to a franchise in order to prepare for a new one.

I don’t remember if I played this, but I sure loved Warlords back then on PS2. Capcom on fire lately man.

I waited years for this remaster, thought it wasnt coming, had enough of waiting and completed it last week on steam deck via pcsx2. Still a great game after 20+ years.

I can't believe they're doing this. Didn't the Onimusha Remaster sell very poorly?

Personally, I'm not too stocked about this one. IMO 2 was the worst part of the series. But I will buy it regardless in order to support their decision to do 3 as well - which I consider as the best the series.

Fantastic surprise, the second is my favourite. They gave a nice AI upscale treatment to the CGI intro, hopefully the same is true for the pre-rendered backgrounds.

a remaster for the perfect sequel ... loved the RPG elements and the trading system ... will gladly replay it when it comes out

Nice. Have the first one on the Switch. Will get this day one in the hope Capcom will port the other two.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
Wild to remaster it and not put out a native PS5 version with higher frame rates..., especially if it is hitting Steam...
It'll be 4k60fps on PS4 bro
Hopefully we don't have to wait 6 years for Oni3
