Patapon 1+ 2 Replay - Announcement Trailer (Bandai Namco published) | Coming July 11 to PS5, Switch and PC

Great games, but since I own them both twice already, I probably won't pick them up again.

Did that spiritual successor of Patapon ever release?

It'll likely be multplat sans Xbox again like Freedom Wars. Here's the Steam link:

Edit: Yep... PS5/Steam/Switch

Whhaaaattt???

Sony fully owns the Patapon IP now? The series' copyright used to be shared with Rolito Guili before.

Hahaha Sony stop being Dbags and just put it on Xbox too (allow bandai to) like you've "won" it's also patapon; there's a handful of people out there who genuinely care.

Just let everyone get a chance.

Why not release it also on xbox if you don't care to do the release youself. I bet everybody's golf is also not on xbox. It doesn't make any sense.

Not yet, I'm looking forward to that game, steam page:

Though patapon being revived (even as a remaster) is pretty exciting to me, I love the series.

These games were largely made and geared towards the Japanese audience, a market that Xbox is damn near nonexistent in. It makes a lot of sense to not even bother with them in that regard.

Bandai supports xbox with all of their games nowadays. I dont know seems like a Sony clause for babdai to license those. I dont even own a xbox but I think its unnecessary at this point especially because Sony wasn't interested in continuing the support for those smaller games.

Sony will never play ball with Xbox, even for something as irrelevant as Patapon. It's just business.

Why release on a dead system? These games are niche to begin with. Sales on Xbox would likely be triple digits at best.

Seems like Freedom Wars was part of a larger initiative between Sony and Bandai Namco..

I think Bloodborne if it ever happens will be a full-fat PS Studios title.

This seems to be mostly about the smaller more obscure titles.

Of course, I just couldn't hold myself from making that reference given The Japan Studio Connection across this recent wave of SIE licenced game ports coming out of Bandai Namco :P

I wish Xbox, Sega and Nintendo would license out their unused IPs like this tbh. Good source of revenue for very little work.

It's also business to not support your main competitor.

At this point both Switch and pc is more of a competition to Sony. Like I said I have access to those games on three platforms but I don't see how it's reasonable to skip Xbox if you are happily support all other platforms.

In a broad sense, sure. But they are in direct competition with Xbox for the living room space with similarly powered consoles. They don't want to strengthen their direct console competitor under any circumstances.

Makes no sense to spend money developing for a platform that will be essentially transitioning all of its users over to PC in the next couple of years anyway.

So that audience will get access to the game eventually anyway.
