Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Warsaw, Poland, (January 27, 2024) — People Can Fly is thrilled to be working on Gears of War: E-Day, the next mainline game in the renowned Gears of War series, as a co-development partner with The Coalition.

We are honored to return to the world of Gears of War, a franchise deeply embedded in our studio’s history. As lead developer of the iconic Gears of War: Judgment and co-development partner on Gears of War 1-3, we have always been passionate about the series and its legacy.

“Returning to collaborate on the next chapter of this legendary saga is both a privilege and an exciting opportunity to build upon the intense, visceral action and rich storytelling that fans have come to love. We are deeply grateful for our partners’ trust and support on this journey” – says PCF’s CEO, Sebastian Wojciechowski.

“Gears of War: E-Day is not just our next major game; it’s a return to what makes Gears of War games special and authentic. We’re pleased to be partnering with the talented folks at People Can Fly who have been a part of our franchise’s legacy for so long.” – Mike Crump, Studio Head, The Coalition.

“Our team at People Can Fly, made up of dedicated Gears of War fans, is pouring everything we have into creating an experience that will exceed expectations. While we can’t share more just yet, we’re eager for the day when we can show all the exciting things we’ve been working on” – says Guillaume Barry, Development Director at PCF.

Thats good, Bulletstorm was amazing, so was Painkiller obviously.

There doesnt seem to be a 2025 release date stated anywhere, so assume it's not coming this year.

Gears Judgment also made some sensible changes to the Gears formula like a faster pace and quick access grenades, that the original 3 didn't do.

PCF are a good choice for a co-developer, they have experience with multiple Gears projects themselves.

I never played Judgement, was it any good? Never bothered with them spin off games that came about as that console gen got extended like God of War Ascension.

Gears of War honestly used to be such a hallmark MS IP. I looked at 4 and 5 and just thought "Why?" (Not even trying to console war I used to be a 360 goon)

Yeah it's fun, it has more of a 'mission based' structure than a single cohesive game start to end, but it's a bit faster paced than the original Gears games.

It got a 60fps boost on the Series consoles, so no better time to give it a shot.

These guys worked on the worst gears game with judgement. They should be kept away from the franchise altogether…

As a long time gears fan this is worrying news.

Might peep to see if I can get a pre owned cheap system for some Game Pass.

Targeting terrorists with a D-Pad
I don't know how much "creative input" they had over Judgment, but except from the campaign, that game was a serious misstep. Hard to be excited, but hopefully it won't affect the game too much.

Make GoW great again!

And i'm sure Eday will rock, the question will then be how do they take the series forward? while i did had fun with gears 4 and 5, it doesn't hold a candle to gears 1-3, so what? make more prequels?
