Physical Therapist or Chiropractor?

So i deal with headaches now and then which i am certain are due to my career choice lol (Dev always on laptops) and i was looking to see if getting chiropractic care or PT care would be more of a solution to help with the headaches.

Do PT's do only stretching moves or can they do both stretching/massage and adjustments (if need be)? Honestly i think that's what i need.....a good stretch and massage and my neck adjusted. Looking for thoughts or experiences from those who have been in my situation. Thanks!!

Chiros are very hit or miss, PTs are not. Go to a PT. I need to see one myself once I have some extra money to fix my stiff legs.

I’m an OT, you’ll be much better off in the long run seeing an outpatient PT. As well, you may want to seek out an ergonomic specialist (likely and OT or PT with advanced certification). You’ll want to correct your posture and alignment and adapt your work area to avoid long term injury.

You need to strengthen the muscle in and around the affected area. Chiropractic treatment is typically passive and pain relief is shortlived. Go with the physio.

D. D. Palmer founded chiropractic in the 1890s,[22] after saying he received it from "the other world";[23] Palmer maintained that the tenets of chiropractic were passed along to him by a doctor who had died 50 years previously.[24] His son B. J. Palmer helped to expand chiropractic in the early 20th century.[22] Throughout its history, chiropractic has been controversial.[25][26] Its foundation is at odds with evidence-based medicine, and has been sustained by pseudoscientific ideas such as vertebral subluxation and Innate Intelligence.[27] Despite the overwhelming evidence that vaccination is an effective public health intervention, among chiropractors there are significant disagreements over the subject,[28] which has led to negative impacts on both public vaccination and mainstream acceptance of chiropractic.[29] The American Medical Association called chiropractic an "unscientific cult" in 1966[30] and boycotted it until losing an antitrust case in 1987.[9]

Chiropractors are great if the problem is specifically your back or neck i.e. your spinal column. But ignore them when say they can cure a cold or cancer etc. In your case def go with PT.

Correlation does not equal causation. Chiropractors are quack.
Agree to disagree. I know a lot of people including myself who have benefited greatly from a chiropractor over a physiotherapist. I've no doubt there are crap chiropractors just like the many shit physiotherapist I've had over the years.

Physical Therapist always. Chiropractors are bullshitters. Might as well go to a Shaman instead.

My brother has his doctorate in physical therapy. He would disown me if I ever went to a chiropractor. So like any good brother, I mention that I'm going to see one every once in a while to see him get physically agitated. He has told me plenty of stories about how dangerous some chiropractors are with adjustments, specifically necks.

I was having back pain issues and went to see a chiro. He wanted to crack my neck and I said no. An MRI later showed that I had disks pressing on my spinal cord at C4 being the reason for the pain. Cracking my neck could have paralyzed me.

That would have sucked, obviously... glad you dodged a bullet. My mom and I both went to a chiropractor for our backs for many years and he did nothing but help us feel better. We both got the typical "violent" neck crack probably 1000 times each. There's always a risk with any procedure.

EDIT: Also, at one point I had to go to a "regular doctor" spinal specialist for my back due to insurance reasons. Guess what? He cracked my back and neck EXACTLY the same way our chiro did.

Chiros earned the reputation of being quacks by saying they could cure anything by adjusting your spine, no matter how obviously unrelated to the spine it is. ("EVERYTHING is related to the spine!" would be their claim, of course.) From the sound of it, apparently some of the more numbnuts folks heard chiros were quacks for that reason, but they came away thinking they were just quacks in general. The chiro my family went to, he never made any stupid claims about what he could cure. He only handled back and neck pain, and he was very good at it.
