Open Beta on PS4 and Xbox One from 14-18 January - it seems no beta on pc

PvZGW2 launches its open multiplayer beta beginning January 14 and ending January 18. This is open to all PS4 and Xbox One players – here are just some of the highlights of the Garden Warfare 2 multiplayer beta:

- Enjoy the Backyard Battleground (we’re saving tons of great content and plenty of surprises for launch!), and play our King of the Hill-inspired mode, Flag of Power, where you can jump into the action right away and experience an immersive and escalating battle.
- You’ll also get to try out six new PvZ character classes, as well as a returning roster of your favorite characters from the original Garden Warfare.
- Jump into our 24 person multiplayer modes – the new Herbal Assault and Gardens & Graveyards
- You’ll be able to play across four distinct maps – Moon Base Z, Frosty Creek, Z-Tech Factory, and Seeds of Time.

Hope there is a way for participants to tell EA that we don't want full auto health regeneration. Terrible change, the first one was perfect.

Loved the first game. Cool we get to try before buying. Excited for way more characters and modes.

Hopefully my beloved Cattail gets the 3D treatment.

No beta for a PC is a bit worrying since PC is probably the platform that needs a beta the most since it will be on Origin.

I'll skip the beta since I'm getting this on PC, but any reminder that the game is coming soon is more than welcome.

Being on Origin has nothing to do whether it will be good or bad, it's just a client. The original ran amazingly well and had pretty good support. This game isn't crazy complex and it's very similar to the predecessor. I wouldn't worry too much.

Still play the first one from time to time. Hopefully they fixed playing games with friends, last I could remember if I joined a game with a friend there was no way of knowing if wed be on the same team or even remain on the same team. Can't wait to try this out.

Yep. And publishers usually don't like to release early code on PC as they think that can be studied by crackers to get an early exploit release of the full game.

PvZ was and still is one of the best multiplayer experience so far this gen. Tons of fun online.

Will be there the moment the beta opens.

Shame there's no open beta for PC, but I'll definitely hop on my XB1 to check it out. This is exciting news! I almost forgot this was dropping this year! Maaaaaan, 2016 is gonna be a good year for games!

My friend said the first game went full pay2win, is that right? Fast unlocks and stuff like that. I hope that's not in this game, cosmetics are fine but any sort of advantage especially in a competitive shooter is just wrong.

Pay to win? Not really. Even if you do terrible at the game you still get the in game currency and its pretty easy to get lots of coins. Using actual money just made it go faster. The currency system was pretty well done. Especially in slightly longer games like gardens and graveyards. And the first game had classic modes where you played as the stock characters without any kind of advantage. And the different characters being an advantage are debatable since it depends how well you can utilize them (and since some characters were changed).

I never knew you could even pay for coins in it and I probably put at least about 100 hours into that game.

All the coins get you are new character that look different and have slightly different attacks. (One variation of the machine gun zombie has a more accurate, burst fire weapon)

in a way it is. , the balance is pretty bad for any "true" competive game. the upgrade system for your wpns is pure rng which is lame, im hoping in this one you can just buy what u want with coins. at least weapon wise.

Definitely not pay2win. You could pay for faster progress but that was mostly cosmetic. Everyone got e.g. the Berry Shooter Pea fully upgraded for free, or the Dr. Chester on the zombie side. Those upgrades were somewhat usefull, but it's not like you couldn't play with a non fully upgraded class at all. Also, like tempest wrote, you earned quite a lot of coins by just playing the game. 10K and more for a round of Gardens & Graveyards more often than less, lasting around 15-20 minutes. The prices are 20K for the best mixed upgrade pack, 40K for a guaranteed character variant.

Since I got the game for free, I put around €10 in for coins packs just for the joy of it.

Nah not really p2w.

The coins payout system in the game is really really good.
