Before I even ask my question, obligatory: WTF! Why? Why?
Is that the pop artist "Pitbull" on that girl's arm in the previous page?
Better than the woman that had DRAKE tattooed on her forehead. Only slightly better though.

Not mine but my friend

Worse than the Pitbull tattoo
I'm guessing, but 8 hours if you don't completely fill in the background. Two to three sessions.
I've never gotten a tattoo before but am very seriously considering one... I want it to be based on a scene from one of my favorite songs, but I don't think either of the official pieces of art quite capture a style that would work for a tattoo
I love the lone bard sitting in a mystical forest, but I'd want some modifications if I actually get it done. Do most tattoo parlors have artists that will draw up their own works based on pictures you give them? Does this cost extra money?
Got this done about a year ago. This was taken pretty much after it was done so it's still looking a bit smudgy. You can see a lot finer details these days. Hurt, a LOT.

Got this today. Sternum ain't no joke

That is one sweet tattoo.
Post a pic when colored in.
We have the exact same body type, well from what is shown. Also have the chin hair. If I sent my wife that pic and told her I'd gotten a tattoo, she'd flip out (hates tattoos), because there's no way she wouldn't think that was me.
Considering getting a tattoo on the side of my head. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with these?
I'm currently working in Japan and this is the only place I can get a tattoo and still be able to hide it when I'm in the gym changing room (would be thrown out otherwise). Speaking of which, would it be a pain for the tattoo artist if I shave the underside of my head to get the tattoo but leave enough hair to cover it over for work afterwards?
This can't be real, right? Even the quote is wrong.
Has anyone here ever actually sought out a tattoo artist to design a tattoo from their own ideas? I was going to get my artsy cousin to design it for me (I was going to pay her well, too) but that's falling through, so I'm wondering where to go next. Is there a "right" way to find a good tattoo artist and work with them on concepts, without bleeding my wallet too much? I have an idea of what I want, and basically a "design doc" with possible influences, ideas, etc. that I have, but I don't know if I'm asking too much or if there's a good way to go about this.
This is on my foot
Okay, this is awesome. I love the color so far.Got this today. Sternum ain't no joke
Second session, pretty much just as painful, if not more so. I'll update with a better shot once the artist posts the pic on his instagram.
I've wanted a US-themed tattoo for a while now, but not something that's American in an explicit or in-your-face manner. I think I've found the right stuff.
Are you guys familiar with the lobby of the Empire State Building? It's full of wonderful art deco motifs, with cog-like stars and planets. It reminds me of 1920s America, the machine age, the Roaring 20s. It also makes me think of The Great Gatsby, which is a novel I like a lot.
I'm thinking of somehow turning this into a half-sleeve in black, white, and a rather faded gold. What do you guys think?
I'm also thinking about incorporating the ESB mural from the lobby into the tattoo. Not sure though.
EDIT: Oh yeah, I've also decided to have my Triforces removed from my shoulders (see a few pages back), so I'm thinking about incorporating a Triforce into this tattoo.
I think that could look pretty good, it's a nice idea. Not sure about including the ESB mural.
Why are you having the Triforces removed?

Do you think a perfectly-comfortable-in-his-sexuality heterosexual such as myself could pull this off?
I fucking love this so much.
I don't have much experience and I'm sure I'm not telling you anything you don't know, but... that is going to HURT. Everyone I've talked to and everything I've read said head tattoos are ungodly painful. So be ready and enjoy the endorphins... I'm impressed.
The rest of the info I can only guess at. First off, you/the artist will shave with a an actual razor down to your scalp. Not just clippers. You should be able to leave longer hair to fall down over and cover it, but make sure you let the artist know about this so he can discuss it with you. It shouldn't be a big deal. Having said that, someone will probably still see it. So just make sure you won't get in too much trouble. Also, if you are constantly covering it up make doubly sure that you take good care of it. You don't want to irritate it too much with hats and you want to give it a chance to breathe.
Good luck! What are you thinking about getting?
And done...well, basically done. Just gotta get it touched up in like 3 weeks or so. Sorry for shit quality, I'll attempt to get a better one later.
Finally had my last session for my half-sleeve today. Here's a better photo of what it looked like with just an outline:
And here it is today after the last session (and still bleeding!):
Anyone in Chicago, I highly highly recommend you check out Deluxe Tattoo, especially Jason Vaughn. The dude is craaaaaazy talented.
