PS4 System Software Update 7.00 Launches This Week

Featuring new Party and Remote Play enhancements.

It's only took them the whole generation but you can finally remote play PS4 to any android device running android 5.00 and above. Bluetooth support is also incoming for PS4 Controllers to use on streaming devices wirelessly.

Also, if it wasn't loud enough with 8 people, you can now have up to 16 people in a party chat.

• Maximum number of Party users increased from 8 to 16
• Network connectivity improved
• Audio quality improved
• Accessibility support with Chat Transcription has been added (US Only)

Remote Play is also available on PlayStation Vita, iOS, Windows PC and Mac.

Remote play is out this week on Android along with PS4 Update 7.00.

Great to see them improving this wonderful feature! One of my favorites along with share play. Been using it since the beginning of the generation on my sons Vita, and it was a game changer being able to continue playing on it when the wife wants to see the soap opera

Just stupid as it is 2019 and there are no data caps on fast cheap mobile connections. (On many countries)

And 4G is even better than many open wifis anyway, so no reason not to give at least an option to use mobile network.

Now u need 2 devices to play with mobile device, to share connection from one to another which is just stupid

Using phone with 20/5 4G + laptop = games are playable from 200km distance so that aint problem either

Would be amazing if it came to iOS too, now that is supports DS4 natively and whatnot. Alas, I don't own a PS4 at the moment so have it done in time for PS5, Sony!

Really glad to see this going official. I toyed with this a few years back, via a series of workarounds, and was surprised at how playable it was. Input lag? Definitely. It didn’t stop me from having fun wandering around Destiny and shooting enemies, however.

Paired with some kind of physical controls, this seems like a solid way to play when the TV is out of play, or you just want to lounge and enjoy a game casually.

I'm guessing that would be down to amazon as they use there own version of android called Fire OS. It would be a good idea though.

Remote Play was on sony phones from 2014, and they add ios support early this year iirc, now they open it for all android devices.

This. Previously it was limited to only Sony phones. There's been an iOS app for a while. It was dumb to limit it just to Sony android phones.

I'm playing a turn based jrpg. I do not give a fuck about latency or compression or whatever. Just let me play it. If it sucks, I'll decide if I want to use it or not.

I want to see if I can have my "bot" run indefinitely without taking up my computer's resources.. so it'd run on like a linux server and the APK would make things to run through an emulator.

Make sure to have a PS4 Pro and fast upload speed for streaming.

Tried this today with a friend (via Share Play) and it works like a charm. We both live in the same city and I even tried Competitive MP.

OG PS4 has horrendous encoding input lag (100ms according to DF). Not sure about PS4 Slim.

I don't think that most people could setup the needed ports. With so many ISP company's using IP sharing. I don't know tho.

Been goofing around with this for an hour now and it just isnt quite where I need it to be.

I have a slim model and there is just too much input lag at high resolutions. 360p feels almost perfect but it looks so cruddy. I dont know much about tech but if ps5 can give me a latency as good or better then 360p, I'll be in day one.

Streaming to vita is still the best way to remote play because you can stream it directly from PS4. It runs perfectly as long as nothings downloading and you've set it up correctly. They need this feature on mobile.

Also Sony should bring out a dedicated streaming system, stream ps4/ps5 games directly from console and obviously ps now over net, be less of a risk than a vita 2, which I'd also love but sadly can't see happening.

I've thought of this as well something like the switch Lite, but the hardware is only intended for streaming so it doesn't need to be powerful or expensive.

Out of curiosity I did a solo Master Rank hunt via remote play with my ipad and a DS4. IMHO that is a pretty solid test case for remote play as these hunts require decent input precision and latency.

It did work but at certain points dropped below 540p which made it almost unplayable. I am not going to say that things have improved with the technology but I did complete the hunt. I probably won't be touching this feature again for awhile though.

Never going to happen, and Vita is a stupid dead brand name. When the the tech is ready all the have to do is make a PS4 Portable.

yup. owned 4 different switch models and used 3 different routers. every time the Switch sucks at WiFi yet some how my PS4, XB1, Phone, iPad, chromecast, home speaker, and PC can connect no problem.

i need to create a hotspot from my phone or PC so i can connect my Switch to the internet when it's not docked. when it's docked i have had to connect an ethernet to it and it can't even make use of my full speed on it. best i can do is about 40-50Mb/s. which is only a quarter of what i pay for (~200Mb/s)

On the Samsung the DualShock 4 connected via Bluetooth as “wireless controller” (which it did not in the past), but the app said your device is unable to use DualShock 4. It also wouldn’t use an MFI controller. I also could not sign in to my account on the Samsung as it kept giving me captchas and then saying the server had timed out (even when I eventually got sign-ins without captchas).

The iPhone connected to the PS4 remotely ok but wouldn’t recognize the DualShock.

So I’m waiting to try xcloud next.

By 802.11ac I meant the 5 GHz variant. 2.4 GHz is crap indeed. You have to configure this specifically, since 2.4 GHz is the default.

PSN and Nintendo Online tend to cap download speeds, no matter how fast or slow your connection is.

So connecting your DualShock to the device and using it on the PS4 RemotePlay App only works if you have Android OS 10, which is currently only available on like 10 current flagship phones, or iOS 13.

So basically this currently only works if you're wealthy.
