Marvel's Agents of SHIELD is renewed for season 7, even before season 6 premieres in summer 2019. Marvel TV launched Agents of SHIELD on ABC in 2013 as a spinoff of sorts from The Avengers. It was the first television series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but not the last. Still, as Marvel TV has branched out to include shows on Netflix, Hulu and Freeform, Agents of SHIELD has remained the flagship series.
For five seasons, Agents of SHIELD has followed a team of agents lead by Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), an MCU character who made his debut in the movies before moving over to TV. His original team consisted of Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet), Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen), Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker), but has since added Alphonso "Mack" Mackenzie (Henry Simmons), Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez (Natalia Cordova-Buckley) and Deke Shaw (Jeff Ward). The Agents of SHIELD season 5 finale left the team seriously shaken up after returning from the future to save the world from being destroyed. Although it's unclear what's planned for Agents of SHIELD season 6, fans can rest assured there's plenty more story to tell.
Marvel and ABC announced today that Agents of SHIELD has been renewed for season 7, ahead of the season 6 premiere in summer 2019.
