The Themis Group has released a whitepaper that discusses the growing market of virtual property, as related to online videogames.
Pitfalls of Virtual Property, penned by Tehmis advisory board member Dr. Richard Bartle, states that virtual property sales could generate $20.0 million in revenue this year on $400.0 million in trade volume. Trade volume could grow to as much as one-quarter of online game subscription revenues by 2008 the report adds.
The 24-page document, available in PDF format here , outlines five potential pitfalls associated with the notion of real-world ownership of virtual property.
