Rime developer Tequila Works files for insolvency

Danny Dudekisser

I paid good money for this Dynex!
That's unfortunate. I seem to recall that Rime did quite well for them, no? Then again, that was like 6 years ago and I don't think they've done much since, so I guess it was going to happen eventually.

I finished And liked Rime.

Unfortunately I have not played any of their other games.
The Sexy Brutee is the only other game I can think of.

Sad to hear as Rime was quite an enjoyable experience. Sadly it looks like they had two flops one after another, first with Gylt which was a Stadia exclusive and only years later being ported to PC and consoles, and then with their most recent release which was a title based on the League IP (this one failed commercially as well).

Rime is exceptionally good.

Its only issue is that despite what the presentation might suggest, its got more in common with narrative heavy "arty"-indies like What Remains of Edith Finch, than Zelda or Ueda's work.

As a meditation on grief and ultimately acceptance of loss, its remarkably intelligent and beautifully crafted.

Honestly, its among the most underrated games of the last 20 years in my opinion.

Sad to see Tequila Works in financial dire-straits, but at least in their time they created this mini-masterpiece. Even if its largely unsung.

I bought Rime and Gylt. That's a bummer.

I love so much their Castlevania, and the musics is just... glorious and one of my favorite OST ever.
Liked Rime too, I feel so sad that they are about to close, we are loosing some very talented people here.
If only money from Bioware wasted in blue hairs could get to them, to make REAL games and no political garbage.

Pour one for our Spanish homies...

Rime was beautiful, also, i motherfookin' cried, that ending was masterful (for a game), them fookin' feels man, on par with a Ueda game (the feels that is).

Gonna try Gylt next.

Castlevania LOS was also fookin' amazin, amazing art-direction, atmosphere and that music from Oscar Araujo was just chef's kiss.jpg, but no, people love their Weebvanias so what do i know.

Talking about Mercury Steam now, is that hack of a president still there ? You know, the one that fucked up the sequel to LOS and that monumental fuck up that was Raiders of the Broken Planet (now Spacelords) which didn't have a clear vision since day1...
