Original article from Forbes:

From the article:

“…Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League abruptly wrapped up its theoretically multi-year storyline with some short animated cutscenes with one main reveal: The Justice League never actually died at the hands of the team, they were all clones that Braniac had made and unleashed on Metropolis.”

I like how everyone's death is retconned as if it never happened but Wonder Woman's isn't for some bizarre reason.

Well maybe now the Arkham games will get new versions to save some face from this . Arkham origins at least could do to start and then do a new story from that.

Isn’t that most DC and Marvel comics do most of the time?
This retcon holds little water since Wonder Woman was never cloned and is permadead. It's all damage control.

And it kind of makes that end credits thing with the remembrance of the original voice of Batman completely pointless so they just made it worse by retconning the Justice League's death sans Wonder Woman.

The best thing they could do is just reveal it was all a dream and the SS just wakes up in Prison.

Doesn't matter though, any goodwill Rocksteady had has completely dissipated.

I will say I found the gameplay fun but there was no content to keep you playing and the story ranged from awful to cringe satire.

Never understood the need to have an in-universe retcon. Just say that KtJL is in its own split timeline and that it never happened in the main gaming universe. Done.

The game failed, let it die instead of trying to make it canon.

not really a retcon, the plan was to get them all back with big narrative explanations and at least 2 years of seasons, but then it bombed and all budget was cut and they compressed everything into a single season; flash and gl were alive with literally zero explanation and deathstroke didn't even get a team up cutscene.
After you kill batman the final hint unlocks that literally spells out "he will return 🦇"

Batman died? Did he get his back broken again?
The game is... Was called "Kill the Justice League". All bosses are the known heroes and you are supposed to kill them.

There are three big offences this game made that pissed off the fans.
  1. They declared the game as part of the Arkhamverse, despite being completely different in tone and quality. Which means the Batman and Harley of this game are supposed to be the same ones of the Arkham games.
  2. The Sweet Baby fingerprints are all over it, as the game is sexist. When Wonder Woman dies everyone's sad, but when the other heroes die, they pee on their corpses... literally!
  3. The game coincide with the very real death of Legendary Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy where in this game was his final performance. Given the above mistreatment of the characters, you can guess how well did that go.
Beyond the above, the game was a shameless looter shooter that tried to capitalise on the success and good will of the Arkham games.

Thread.

This simply sounds like the person who wrote this article never fucking read a comic book before lol

I thought it was expected that the heros they killed in that game didn't really actually DIE and will be in zero games or some dumb shit like this, anyone assuming that...shit, maybe they need to read those comics before making such odd articles.

Thats like being shocked that the Joker returns as a villain and be like "RETCON!!!" lol

Does anyone really give a shit about canon when there are so many versions of these characters across all media?

The way people act like any of it actually matters is just weird to me, as does this recent retarded trend of trying to contextualize it through "metaverses".

As if any of it really matters!

*A story is only as good or meaningful as the person or persons telling it makes it.*

I mean that kind of plot twist is a little more creative than "it was all just a dream".

What they should have done though is retcon this game in real life. That would be even better. Not like it's beyond these type of people to pretend like real events didn't happen.

Yeah, if a comic book franchise goes on long enough, things get weird. Take "Across the Spider-Verse" (if you like animation, definitely recommended, although your should see "Into" first). All of the Spider-Men/-Women/-things in it have been featured in one comic or another, and there are so many. Well, ok, there's the PS4 spidey as well in one scene, but it's a Sony film, that gets a pass.

That is not to absolve this game in any way, just an observation. But maybe I should try the game just for the lulz, it's on PS+ rn.
