Yep, strongly doubt we will have FFX remake in same year. Never know though and there are rumors of FFIX remake as well.

Awful comparison... considering PS2 CGI cutscenes for certain game are still impressive to this day (relative to current gen graphics) and PS1 cutscenes stopped looking good 20 years ago.

No, for a couple reasons:

1. The jump from PS1 to PS2 was greater than the jump from PS4 to PS5.

2. More importantly, the jump from PS1 CG to PS2 CG was like 2-3 generations’ worth of progress. Even FF7 *itself* has two different CG styles in the game bc the tech was advancing so rapidly.

A FFX Remake would probably be less of an undertaking than FFVII was, due to the linear nature of the game. It wouldn't need to be split into 2 or 3 parts.

For me X is the worst of all the mid-life FF games. I just hated almost everything about it...except for FFX-2 Dressphere system is fantastic...but X can sink to the bottom of an ocean that is a dream of someone who isn't even born yet (or some other complete mess).

afaik SE doesn't have a free team to make full-game remake on the level of ff7r, at least it to be ready for a couple of years - CBU1 doing FF7R3 and KH4, CBU2 - next Nier and DQ12, CBU3 just did FF16 and dawntrail expansion and rest are smaller and mobile games.

Not my favorite FF, but if they would move away from the liniair path of the original, it might be an amazing remake.

If a remake of FFX was the last game I ever played I would retire from the hobby a happy man.

Seeing Spira on PS6 running on the latest UE5 would be a dream.

On the flipside FF7R-3 from a creative/design perspective is done and also it should in theory be a massively easier undertaking than part 1 or part 2 considering the bulk of the design and grunt work is done.

So I'm sure S-E has already made plans for how this team will be utilized in the future and as they get closer to the release of the final game (late 2027?) more and more members will be free for the next project.

I think FFXVII / FFX Remake makes sense as their next project.

No thanks. The joy of the older Final Fantasy games was because they were turn-based games with a hint of an open-world experience.

If they want to remake Final Fantasy 10, keep it turn-based with a better frame rate and graphics. Also, the original soundtrack won't be beaten.
