One of the protagonists - The Dismal King, forced from his throne.

An immortal vampire and the Dismal King who rules Yomi, a world shrouded in darkness.
After being removed from his throne by someone or something's betrayal, he awakes to find himself in Brighthome, a world where fallen warriors gather. He is recruited into the king’s band of warriors called the Generals and sent to fight in a chaotic battle against invaders. But how did he, an immortal, end up in a world where only the dead can go? Together with fellow members of the generals, he begins a journey to regain his abilities as the Dismal King.

The latest standalone entry in the SaGa franchise, SaGa Emerald Beyond, brings together the very best elements of the beloved series to offer each player their own unique gameplay experience.
As players venture across 17 mysterious worlds, they will forge their own unique branching stories that unfold based on their very own choices and actions. With multiple endings and countless scenes to discover, players will experience a unique tale upon each playthrough!

Whew boy that's a fuckin' ugly ass art style. The 2D character art is fine, good even. The 3D models though. Jesus Christ.

SOme of the visuals are ehh, but a SaGa game is a SaGa game.

Maaaan I just don't get how developers go backwards on a franchise as the years go on. Give me SaGa Frontier 3 already, jeez!

For real. Hell poly count aside I think these models look even worse than Scarlet Grace which was a Vita game.
