I've never really liked Rolling Thunder 3... I mean, it's decent, but it's so different from the first two Rolling Thunder games that I don't like it as much as either of them. The game's a faster-paced game more about action than the first two; the deliberate pace is somewhat lost. The two player co-op mode that the second game has (yes, even on Genesis) is also gone. The game's just so much more actioney... you get multiple weapons, can choose a high-powered weapon from the beginning of the stage, etc. Overall it obviously feels like an attempt to make a faster-action Rolling Thunder game, but it gets a bit too far away from why I love the originals. In comparison, the second game plays pretty much exactly like the first one, but with improvements like co-op. It's the better game, in my opinion.
I'm sure the official cables are on ebay sometimes... the Genesis 2/32X ones look a lot like Saturn cables, but have some slight design differences, and a different pinout on the plug of course. The round plug's the same though, and you actually can plug a Saturn AV cable into a Genesis 2... it just won't work.
No, there aren't. What the game has instead is that the first floor has five different exits, to each one of the four trial dungeons, each of which is a bit over a floor long. Only after beating all of them will you go to the second through fifth floors of the main dungeon. So it's not all one big thing. Oh, and the game may only have ~10 floors worth of dungeon, but it more than makes up for that with its high encounter rate and stiff difficulty curve... like, at the beginning of the game, you literally have to level up a few times right in front of the entrance. Going much of anywhere will cause your near-certain defeat.
Yeah, it will. It's a simple game, so grinding is most of what you do... at least the graphics are fairly nice, though.Sounds like its going to be a tough one lol.
Yeah, that'll do it for sure, as long as that length is okay with you of course. But that kind of cable is probably the easiest way to get stereo out of a Genesis 1, yeah. Combine it with a Genesis 1 AV cable for the video.Oh and one of these should do fine for Genesis Model 1 stereo right?

I got up to the part where I got my two partners in SitD. Haven't touched it since.
It's nice, but could really, really use an automap; I tried the whole "draw out your own map" thing only to have to recenter the map twice over because the level was so damn large. Fortunately, its Saturn-based sequel, Shining the Holy Ark, rectified that.
I started a run through on my Wii U. It's good, yeah. Noticeably more linear, though. Like, y'know how you can return to areas you've already cleared in Wonder Boy in Monster World? No idea why you'd want to, but you could. Right, well, there's not really any of that here, from what I've seen so far; I can't return to my home town now that I've reached the central palace town/hub world of Rapadagna City, and having cleared the volcano level, I can't go back to it, but must proceed to the water shrine. Not a bad change, per se, just something of note. Here's a question for those who have played it. Is Monster World IV pretty good? I really enjoyed the previous one but I got stuck at some point and still to this day I can't figure out what to do next.
Why not look three shots over at the RGB to component transcoder? That will give you better picture quality than s-video could.bottom left hand one, is that referring to an upscaler? we really need a thread for those!
I hear you. I appreciate that the game is somewhat different from the first and second, and yes it is faster paced. It's not like you're moving at a run and gun pace, though. They just picked up the pace some.I've never really liked Rolling Thunder 3... Trios are back in stock! get em while they're hot, so glad i got mine before this 32X came in, i never have enough plugs.
I suppose the better question is, do these even work with a CDX? I'm remarkably unfamiliar with that hardware variant, so...Has anyone used the Sega X2 that they sell at Retro Game Cave? I've come to the realization that my model one with 32X won't fit in the cabinet so I think the best option is to put my mushroom on the Sega CDX. One power plug for that makes sense.
Anyone?

No, I mean, I know what a CDX is, but more technical details, like what sort of power plugs it uses, that sort of thing I don't know.
aw, man - Genesis Knight, that's a beautiful collection there. Centy and Pier too! so, so jelly.
kinda sad cause i got all the cables in for my 32X today, and was excited to hook it up but its messed up; Kolibri gets audio only, star wars & virtua racing get sound & picture but there's lots of graphics clearly missing...shit's unplayable. ive cleaned it (shit was mad dirty! like 3 q-tips) so i dont know what else to do here, contacting the seller on ebay now.
edit - okay dude's asking me to open it and make sure the "internal ribbon cables didn't come loose during transit" and check my connections, gonna have to look that one up
Plugged my headphones in my Genesis for the first time (well, with good headphones); sounds fantastic, but I couldn't seem to make the shielding/interference/static problem go away.
Now if only I had some of the games that I lost all those years ago; I'm down to just NBA Jam and Sonic 1 right now. Maybe I'll order a few and make a weeknd of it.
And better video than RF *.*
That happens to like, 80% of 32X users. SUPER common issue. Ribbon cables are probably it.
ah, that's a bit reassuring - is it easily fixable? i gotta go dig up some links, wanna make sure im not opening anything i can't easily close.
Aw gotta get some composite at least.
Go get Monster World IV on XBLA or PSN.
It JUST came out in The States last year, localized by Sega!
There's really no way to know if it works or not unless you have a system link cable to hook it to the Genesis...I have a composite cable for my 32x but I don't have a system link cable and I don't think the damn thing works anyway.
It's a pretty dire situation so I might as well just start over from scratch.
Also, who here has played Haunting starring Polterguy? I finally went through some of my un-played games, and man, its really fun. I just like seeing all the stuff i can do in the houses.
On the opposite end, Sword Of Sodan may be the worst Genesis game i have played yet.
Crash - you can find replacement cases & print out covers, i did that for a number of my recent additions. there's still too many loose, so ive been looking high & low to get this thing on the cheap...if any of you can find it open online & for a better price, lemme know!
man, i spent years before finishing Miracle World, so Lost Stars comes out and its like...this is easy! health/time meters and shit...why is Alex crying so much?! i ended up liking High Tech World more even though it's clearly not an Alex Kidd game, because i had no other point-and-click-like adventure titles, i think everyone else hated that one.
