Silent Hill 2 |OT| You promised you'd take me there again someday...

By the way, could any of you on PS5 share your HDR settings? I couldnt really find a sweet spot and may be fucking the settings up a bit.

HDR slider fests like that are asinine to me. What average consumer knows how to really dial those in.

How many times should I be stepping on the monsters after I beat them? Lol, I've been stomping their corpses till he stops stomping them.

I hate hdr. It’s usually poorly implemented and both my tv and monitor just seem to be a pain in the ass to get right. Every game I’m always playing around with it to get it to look decent and often I just disable it to avoid crushed blacks.

When it runs and looks right? It’s fantastic. But more often it’s just a nuisance.

I didn't see a toggle for it, can you simply turn HDR off in this game? I'd prefer that by now. I constantly tinker with it.

Captn Captn appreciate the video

I also have this question. I typically whack, then James switches to stomp, and I stomp 3-5x until the enemies turn really red.

To top it all off... I can't find any mention of it on google so here is a Neogaf exclusive sick endgame find: After defeating 2 Pyramid Heads, aim the gun at the executed Maria in the cage to see her SMILING

Hoping the soundtrack drops on Spotify etc. Really love Maria's theme or whatever it is that plays when you first meet her on the docks

Still havent heard that intro song either so Im assuming/hoping it pops up later when you least expect it 🙏

I'd say they played off each other in a full circle way. Bloober is clearly influenced by TLoU(2) and clearly they were influenced by SH. I thought the same by the way, especially because I fucking loved the Seattle area and map. Like oh shit, a whole game of that...yes please.
My first time playing TLOU 11 years ago, some of the menu button-press sound fx made me think, "Hmm, I wonder if the dev team is into Silent Hill?"

Yeah, Im liking it. Atmosphere is thick. Music and sound are great. Combat is alright. I do hate how performance mode drops interior lightning on PS5 so Im sticking to quality atm. Dont like the typical UE graphical glitches.

How's everyone liking it so far? Mine arrives later today, but I'm not starting it til I finish Zelda. Should have that done in a day or so.

I have no idea how the OST does not contain my favorite track that plays in one of the most badass, memorable moments of the Remake

Imagine my horror at going back to an area I cleared only to get mobbed by enemies I'd already killed. Monsters in Silent Hill don't stay dead. Horrifying.

I'm at work thinking about playing this game. Not often that happens.

I played Monday morning, flew out for work, am back home in 20 minutes.

I’ve been dying to play more. All I can think about.

Well finished it. My personal GOTY so far. Think I got a bad ending. Will need to see.

I thought they handled the Angela stuff really well. That boss fight was much improved over the original.

Same goes for all the boss fights really.

Most of the changes yamaoka made to soundtrack was good. However, big gripe I had was the music used for when James realises he is responsible for Mary’s death. Just after watching the tape. For a big moment in the game, the music just had too much of a poppy spin to it. Like the beat etc

Graphically I wish there was an fov slider. I found myself constantly having to look all over the place and some parts of the combat gets super claustrophobic with that default fov. I’d also like to a simple film grain toggle in the menus and not have to do the whole ini folder changes.

Can someone tell me if there is a reason you barely push against doors to open them in this game? Is it a call back to the original? Don’t get me wrong I’m having fun, but it’s kinda jarringly weird that he barely touches doors to open them and kinda just walks through as if nothing is there. Is it to make it feel like a b movie possibly?

Likely more to do with enemies being able to walk through them too.

More animation work to have a door shoved, and if a monster is on the other side the various animations you need. Door hits monster, monster pushes back on door, collision issues and clipping etc.

This was likely the path of least resistance.

I'm playing on PC, I've got HDR for my LG G3 turned on in Windows Settings, but the HDR option is locked in-game. Any ideas what I'm missing? I know it worked on my first boot-up because I set HDR settings in-game then, but now they're gone.

I'm really, really liking it. Very impressed, and it's stayed good at 8 hours in so far. If you drop in on any page in this thread, you'll probably see other people saying as much.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Fucking good. People should have learned years ago to stop buying from them lot. Even before Mike Ashley got his sweaty hands on it. The sooner they are gone the better.
I was *this* close to impulse buying the Steelbook from them for import shipping since no US retailer has one, I'm happy the impulse didn't win.

yh i thought about too upgrading laptop to like rtx 4070 to geet those RT things and all but for now like we still can play those games
gtx 1080 should do justr fine im sure. even all maxed with fsr 3 . just game needs to be started with line -dx12 to get option for fsr3. in default its just fsr1.0 and TSR.
all those complains about u5 engine and how bad it performs, and now i tested it myself and it can run and look decent rly. but man before that flashlight those rooms are so dark..like pitch black, i tried to raise gama still its super dark if you play it at day time ... ohh man. cant wait to find that flashlight at last. so good black on this game if you have decent screen for blacks .
and game itself, thats how remake should be done for me for my taste. not like re remakes, wasnt working for me at all. im like gamer from 90's
A nice thing about not having a cutting edge system is being more likely to be satisfied with performance lol. If I had a 4090 I'd be livid and editing configs every time I didn't hit 60fps. Now I'm happy just to get close-ish to it.

I do 4-5 stomps aswell but they revive all the same.

Some dudes on reee had the same thing happening to them.

Some bodies just start twitching and randomly revive like the crimson fuckers in re rebirth.

Ok this started happening in the Hotel lol. Rushed right over and bonked that nurse back to sleep before she could wake up.

What's the general consensus on this for someone who hasn't played the original? Would playing this one be worth it, or should I just "someday" play the PS2 version?

Do you like survival horror games? It doesn’t get much better than this.

Love them. So this version is good? Or should I just play the original? I historically have not enjoyed Bloober team games.

I'm an OG Silent Hill fan, I'd say there is an argument to be made this is a *better* experience than the original when taking into consideration the smoother gameplay, expanded world, DualSense haptics and stunning 3D audio, just go straight to this 👍
