A 40 for this game? Go to hell man
Movie lore (from Gans' Silent Hill adaptation), not game lore.As per game lore, it is not fog what's in Silent Hill, but dust ashes.
Yes, very good use of haptic. It was like as if I was in this room. Very unsettling. Not sure if anyone else commented on this or not, but the way they use the Dual Sense in certain ways is very unique. One that really surprised me is when you go into a room and a radio is playing. They make you feel the music in your hand. Even crazier, if you place the grips up to your ear, they are actually using the haptic feedback to play the music.
IGN's Alien Isolation review has been topped on the shit-o-meter.Dude played Silent Hill expecting it to be Resident Evil and then proceeded to blast the game because it didn't play like Resident Evil
I wonder how much these people earn, I bet I could do their job better than them despite my degree having nothing to do with journalism or writing.
I beat the game in 13 hours my first run with exploring. 0 deaths. They bloated it too much and didn't add anything in the gameplay department. In result it become stale and boring in the second half. 3 types of enemies and 3 types of weapons with the gameplay as basic as you can get is not suited for the 15 hours playtime. Should have aimed at the original's length.
And the later part of the game is an annoying slog to traverse with crowd of mannequins behind every corner.
Think I'm about out of the hospital, how far am I? Guessing about halfway
It singlehandedly dropped the meta from an 89 to an 86. Fucking ridiculous.Whoever wrote that review for The Guardian should be fired

That's exactly how it worked in the OG games. And yes, that's how fog works in real life. You look towards the distance and you see it. You walk to the spot you were looking at and you can see around you, but where you were now looks foggy. Can we talk about the fog?
People are saying how good it is, but it's really not right at all. Half the time it's just this circle of fog surrounding you that simply disappears completely as you move towards it. That's not how fog works.
Also, there are all these leaves and shit blowing around while at the same time there's thick fog just hanging in the air? Is there wind or isn't there? You can't have both. If there's enough wind to blow leaves around, the fog should be blowing around as well.
The fog is a defining feature of Silent Hill. I really don't think they've done a good job of it.
Pretty sure that's the movies' shitty lore, not the OG games' lore. It was fog and snow, not ash from some underground fire.As per game lore, it is not fog what's in Silent Hill, but dust ashes.
It's also curious how only she got such a big outfit change while the rest didn't......But don't think I didn't notice the slight touch of the woke though. Maria's ugly and old as fuck. And I know full well that was the purple haired gorgon in the corner that wanted it that way
Aggressive consumerism. The perfect bioweaponAre you just acting like an idiot or?
Yep. They just couldn't help themselvesIt's also curious how only she got such a big outfit change while the rest didn't...
Hit Detection(SBI clone) was involved with the game so who knows how much word of that affected sales. Is Silent Hill 2 selling well?
Only 23k concurrent players peak on Steam( 170k estimate owners( It is so sad if such a great game will flop.
I also do not understand how such a popular game in terms of viewrship can sell so bad? 200K+ concurrent viewers on Twitch on the first 3 days, 11 million views of the first trailer, and only 170k copies sold on steam on the first few days(((( sad
Also how accurate are these by PlayTracker, Gamalytic, VG Insights estimates are usually? Epesially on the first days? Do they have enought info or they are really analizing and guessing? May it be that they are wrong by saying 170 while in reality is much more?
Anyone tracked other games sales estimates on realese days? Were there examples of them saying low estimates on the first days and greatly increaing them over the next month?
You'll have to inspect Mary's items in your possession before the penultimate boss fight or else you'll likely get the suicide ending instead of the Leave ending.I have a question, i'm reading around that to get most of the special endings you have to do very specific things that would not come natural without a guide.
My question is, if i don't wanna use guides and just play the damn game as it comes, is the "casual" ending complete shit or it is still a good ending that explain stuff etc??
all endings are great. If you play on hard it's most likely get "in the water" due to the time you'll be spending at low healthI have a question, i'm reading around that to get most of the special endings you have to do very specific things that would not come natural without a guide.

Oh ok, if even the bad ending is still good and explain stuff then i don't need the good ending.all endings are great. If you play on hard it's most likely "in the water" due to the time you'll be spending at low health
What are you smoking? The In Water ending is the last ending you'd want for a first playthrough.all endings are great. If you play on hard it's most likely get "in the water" due to the time you'll be spending at low health
I don't understand this opinion at all but I'm not gonna be talking spoilers hereWhat are you smoking? The In Water ending is the last ending you'd want for a first playthrough.
Correct. Game apparently works just like the original where it grants you points for certain actions that unlock one of 3 primary endings. "in the water" is like the bad ending but nothing wrong with that with this kind of story. So the "in the water" is the ending you get when you ignore all of the obtuse requisites right?
Oh yeah i don't care about the bad ending, i just don't want some abrupt shit that explain nothing.I don't understand this opinion at all but I'm not gonna be talking spoilers here

the abrupt shit is secret endings that are NG+ only. EnjoyOh yeah i don't care about the bad ending, i just don't want some abrupt shit that explain nothing.
To quote ivan drago, if james dies, he dies.
What's so hard? In one James commits suicide and in the other James accepts what's happened and leaves SH with Laura to go on with his life. You don't see one of those 2 as the depressing option?I don't understand this opinion at all but I'm not gonna be talking spoilers here
Depends what you're expecting an explanation for though. Silent Hill itself remains an Eldritch phenomenon regardless.Oh yeah i don't care about the bad ending, i just don't want some abrupt shit that explain nothing.
I've never understood people who disparage others like that on this topic with some snarky comment that misses the mark. Do they understand that meta/reviews does actually influence sales and general public perception? People want the games they like to succeed. Therefore, it makes sense to care about that number.

The "your self worth" thing is one of those armchair psychologist gotchas popularized in the last few years. People see others use these catchy, super smart expressions and regurgitate them ad nauseam. I have a feeling none of them ever stop to consider how absurd the actual statement is in context. I recently called an artist's latest album terrible and had the self worth line thrown my way for having "tied my self worth to elitism and gatekeeping". It's...just a shitty album...I've never understood people who disparage others like that on this topic with some snarky comment that misses the mark. Not you specifically, but this kind of attitude is why some fans are hesitant or stalwart against modernizing classic things. Newcomers want to be spoonfed concepts that have been nuanced and developing among the community for a long time. Then its invaded and the whole culture changes. Sure it can be argued that new life is breathed into and more attention could be positive for further games. But I wish people introduced to new communities would be humble and listen/watch and learn. Instead we get people conditioned to commodity things before moving on to the next viral happening.I mean i don't expect a wall of text explaining everything, but maybe something that help unravel this web of misterious stuff that is happening...
Bro come on man, I just unlocked the elevator. Fucking hell it's really creepy.Arrived at the 3rd floor of the hospital last night. The hospital section is really scary, and games normally don't bother me that much!

Also as some have pointed out, modernized renditions DO tarnish originals whether someone uses that cheesedick argument "the original always exists unaffected."
I still see nothing wrong in the "depressing option" as it perfectly concludes the story, and so does "leave". I did find the latter more uplifting I'll give you that. What's so hard? all primary endings do, with a different final outcomeI mean i don't expect a wall of text explaining everything, but maybe something that help unravel this web of misterious stuff that is happening...
Well i just asked if the ending i get without following a guide is gonna be decent or an abrupt one, because believe it or not, not everyone replay games more than once and not everyone want to follow a guide when they play a game, especially when the requisites to get the special endings are obtuse and not "natural" like in this case, i'm even ok with the bad ending if it is still somehow of a closure and not an abrupt one, i just wanna be sure to have a decent ending without following a guide. Not you specifically, but this kind of attitude is why some fans are hesitant or stalwart against modernizing classic things.
