Silent Hill 2 |OT| You promised you'd take me there again someday...

I am waiting for a patch for soft lock/stuttering issues and a speed run guide for underground segments before buying. I hate that shit in the original and want to skip as much as possible. Also, the optimist in me wants to wait for a GOG release.

You can attract some enemies by making noises, i don't know if it is random but i bashed my stick against a wall and sometimes they come to you, maybe you can separate a couple of them from the group?!

Or maybe kill a couple of them with the gun and then go ham with the wood stick.

i liked that stick ..and really bullets are not so often or much..its not like TLOU gameplay though similar in some parts. i even changed that to easier. it didint made much diff though. yes maybe i have 11 drinks now , but i dont like being red after just one hit from them ..

Bloober would be stupid to not do remakes for at the very least Silent Hill and Silent Hill 3. I do want to see Silent Hill 4 as well though.

that’s on Konami but they sound happy with SH2. Fingers crossed they green light additional projects asap.

Beat it today and absolutely loved it, which is all I could as for as someone that adored the original. I personally don't see how it could be any better, I loved how they approached everything. It definitely felt like it was taken care of and the project was done with passion. Kudos to Bloober.

I really help it sells well enough to continue. I can't help but feel like it's going to as Bloober has already made comments about this not being their last dive into Silent Hill. We have to see 1&3 and 4. The engine is there, the mechanics are there. Just build off of it and everything will continue to be great.

Yep. They just couldn't help themselves :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Well well well...

Having just looked up the VA for maria, guess what?

It's a self insert it seems :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Obviously not one for one. But that's her alright

Same mouth shape too.
All of the voice actors WERE modeled as characters in the game. Though Eddie was 2 different people, lol. https://www.gameleap.com/articles/silent-hill-2-remake-cast-all-voiceover-actors

Does Eddie really have two different voice actors in game? Seems like that first "Eddie" in that article does the voice and then they modeled him off the second "Eddie" and the article is wrong. Could be me being wrong, though.

Silent Hill 4 is the scariest silent hill game btw. They better do that one too. The enemy in the water level with the two heads make my skin crawl.
sh4 so good . wow they need to just remake all of them or let some AI do that . really AI can make games. let them do remakes ..will be faster
and i never played them on pc let me do that now.. i loving SH2 remake so far even n budget gpu

It's just one for voice, and the other for likeness. Which I thought was interesting. Every other actor and actress did both. I'm assuming the one that did likeness couldn't do VA for some reason, or maybe they just didn't think his voice fit? Not sure, but pretty neat.

You can look up both of their IMDB and they're both credited, though the voice actor is just credited for "(voice)."

Eddie was even too much for them :messenger_tears_of_joy:
No kidding, lmao.

So I know the main spoiler of the ending from following games for the past three decades, but I'm eager to finish this game and really dive into theories on just what is going on and, especially, why the characters act the way they do in these situations.

None of them ask pertinent questions or theorize about the wild shit going down. Is it because they're drugged? Brainwashed? Something about the town takes over their minds to direct them on a certain course? are some questions I have as I'm on what I think is the last section of the game.

Havent finished the game yet (tho I know spoilers from the original game), but my take is that
they know they are in some kind of purgatory. They just dont want to accept the reason why they are there. So they dont talk about it.

People summoned to Silent Hill are in a special state of mind. Perhaps SH makes you not care about such things. James says as much that he doesn't care if it's dangerous.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
oof .. talk about some real 'first world problems' ass problems.

Got SH2 in the mail today, but I have to depart for a long weekend expedition, and by the time I come back on Monday, Metaphor should be delivered that day.

I gotta imagine this won't take 80 hours like Metaphor so this would get first priority. Then hopefully I can finish metaphor before Dragon Age comes out.

Much like the original, the only character that hints that they have an idea of what is going on is Eddie. Not entirely, of course. But he definitely makes a number of comments that make you tilt your head. Angela and Laura are just going through it. It isn't until later when James understands.

Really neat detail: Angela bites her fingernails
Massive kudos to them for these details. You also notice James looking more and more tired as the story goes on, his nails even get dirtier.

I just finished Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition, which was my first time playing the original Silent Hill 2 since borrowing a PS2 in my late teens. The game feels so small in comparison; it took me around 6.5 hours to finish, taking my sweet time exploring.

Truly a bizarre experience right after playing through the Remake twice, I enjoyed myself a ton but man, two decades of a jump in quality here is just the showcase of how far we have gone... Sorry but people saying this otherwise fantastic mod is the superior way of experiencing Silent Hill 2 in 2024 are off their rocker.

What it really shows is how amazing the Remake is as a reinterpretation of the source material, improving on it in every possible way. Yes, that most definitely also includes both writing and acting. Those "glimpses of the past" make so much more sense now. I'm blown away by how much from the original stuff is still there, yet how radically all areas got reworked in the Remake. How they managed to take somewhat weaker areas like the Labirynth and turn it into an absolute highlight of a chapter. How old puzzles were redesigned and expanded on — I would pick up items and immediately know what to do, but not necessarily where to go, as the level layout is just... a game of its time and additionally confusing to navigate due to the old-school camera. The combat is peak jank, does the job, but then again, the way Bloober upgraded those encounters, especially boss fights, while staying true to their core concepts is awe-inspiring... turning them into modern, mechanically upgraded renditions of the old designs, rather than ditching them and making something totally from scratch...

I’d definitely recommend anyone who hasn’t played the original to do so now after the Remake. It's a true eye-opener.
