Sniper Elite: Resistance Preview - A Familiar Feeling. Killing Nazis never gets old.

Playing Sniper Elite: Resistance brings a familiar feel to long-time players of the franchise. A game that runs parallel to the events of Sniper Elite 5, Resistance once again puts you in France with the goal of disrupting Nazi plans that could change the course of World War II.
Now, I’m not going to lie to you. If you’ve played Sniper Elite 4 or 5, you’ve played Sniper Elite: Resistance. The game uses the same engine with gameplay that’s nearly identical to its 2022 predecessor. Rather than play as Karl Fairburne, however, you’re controlling Harry Hawker, who sounds an awful lot like Jason Statham.
You can still play at your own pace, something that goes a long way towards getting more players to enjoy the game. Whether I wanted to go in guns blazing or take it as slow as humanly possible, I’m able to do that. It just all depends on what’s happening around me and what I’m trying to accomplish. There are multiple ways to get to, and complete, an objective that you can replay the mission multiple times and it’ll feel fresh for a few playthroughs.

I absolutely adore these games and am so happy that Rebellion hasn't fallen into the "innovation trap" and have kept the series consistent at its core for decades. Despite this being a sidequel I can see this being a great stopgap until Sniper Elite 6.

These games are the so dumb-fun, and I hope they never change.

I like this series, specially SE4, that being said, this new entry is basically an exact copy of SE5, there is nothing new here, just new maps and a new character, but everything is the same, animations, HUD, mechanics etc. Cant help but feeling dissapointed
If it was called Sniper Elite 6 I'd agree with you, but as a side title to hold over the fanbase until the main team finishes Atomfall and can get working on Sniper Elite 6, I'm just happy to have more Sniper Elite.

Also I love the No Cross pvp mode. I used to play Snipe-No-X matches in SOCOM all the time (Devil's Road S3/CA in particular) and it's a much more fleshed out version of that.

Took my first dip of the sniper series (no.5) a couple of weeks back with a friend. A lot of fun. Nice timing as the season passes were reduced in the sale t'other day. So, we are back cracking nazi's in the goolies at hitlers retreat.

So, I played Sniper Elite 3 for Switch, I had bought it in a batch of loose games and I must say it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. My main grip was that it was a straight conversion from PC so fonts were minuscule, so small that I just skipped the whole story because reading small white letters in a brown background was unbearable. But the game was pretty cool and it had some variety.

Keep trying to get into these games but the movement feels terrible. You can tell they are trying to be MGSV so bad but always failing. Just Game Pass fodder at this point.

I liked the jank that is V2 well enough. Enjoyed SE3 and 4 in co-op with a friend greatly.

Currently waiting for SE5 to be cheaper. Trying to get the complete edition edition is currently a rip off with TWO Season Passes that have as much content as the one Season Passes from the previous 3 games.

They can make this and SE6 until SE5 gets cheaper.

Sounds like an interesting series. I haven't played any of them yet. I think I'll pick up one of the older ones on sale. I see SE4 Deluxe Edition on sale right now for $9, might get that. I do enjoy the WWII setting.

It's really fun and I highly recommend it. Expect something like a AA version of MGSV's gameplay, at least that's the closest parallel I can draw. It feels good, it's fun-first all the way and the levels and atmosphere are great.

I scored SE4 an 8.5 for myself.

I've never played any of them. Sounds like I should give one a go, since I always see gamers praising the series.
V2 (which is just a remake of the original PS2 game) and 3 have rather linear levels but are still enjoyable. Starting with 4 they moved to large "open world" levels where you have a ton of freedom on how to approach objectives.

You can spend hours doing a single mission over and over again in different ways.

"Fun first" sounds good. I was a little concerned that it would be too serious/grim/stuffy. I'm not expecting "wacky hijinks" during WWII sniping missions, but I do need it to be fun.
It's VERY "pulpy". It's closer to Inglorious Basterds than a war movie if that makes sense. You literally get xray kill cam shots of exploding ballsacks and what not.

I wouldn't call it Arcade-y but close enough. The level design, scoring system, insane gore etc. are all built around gameplay enjoyment first.

I enjoyed what I played of SE3 and SE4, but my favorite of Rebellion game Zombie Army 4: Dead War. I really wish they would make another one of those because they totally nailed it with that game. Perfect combination of campy cheese, great gameplay, challenge, and replayability.

I played the last one because it was on GP. It was a blast. Nothing like Sniping dudes and getting slow-mo deaths.
