The dream:

DS2 in June >-> GoY in Sept >-> GTAVI in Nov

If this is the case, I'm gonna have to jump back in soon (haven't had a PS5 for over two years now).

Hopefully that's a joke. Ghost of Tsushima is already VASTLY superior to AC Shadows.
Dude, the joke of the century is what you just wrote right here. Have you even played Shadows and on the max difficulty setting for at least 5-6 hrs?

I had a displeasure of playing GOT on the PS5, finished it and regretted every second I spent playing that game to a point that I didn't even have desire or patience to play the expansion which was included in DC, that's how much I didn't care about anything in this game. Shadows literally kills all of it by the prologue with Naoe alone and the rest of the stuff after that shows that Sucker Punch is one of the worst studios Sony has today and there's no way they can make a better game than Shadows, it's simply imposible, but Sony fanboys will eat it all up just like with the first one.

And if you'd knew me even a little, you'd know that I'm anything but a fan of Ubisoft and what they did since past generation started with PS4 and XONE. So don't at me with this BS if you had it in mind.

I would wait till yotei is released and compare that to shadows. GoT has the better story and narrative and the beautiful graphics for its time. The story of shadows is more about revenge, which is simple and straight forward.

I like Naoe as a character more, but I like jins journey as a simple samurai becoming a ruthless ninja more appealing, which is why I hate there is no continuation of his story.

Shadows definitely has the graphical advantage especially when it comes to weather effects and environments but that was given. Let's see if yotei can keep up with that.

Is this also a joke? You’re really committing to the gag. I’m enjoying Shadows quite a bit but gameplay wise I’m not even sure it beats Rise of the Ronin. It does in graphics for sure. Ghost is still the best.

Nah man, he is right, ghost is still the best. Sekiro is just not comparable with these games, because its built different and isn't really for casuals. If you in for a real challenge and love the stupid hard boss encounters then yeah sekiro it is, but ghost and shadows are meant to be enjoyed rather than learning everything the game offers just to stand a chance against your enemies. Fromsoft games are played out, at least for me.

I wonder if Japan will also be pissed off at this game because of the female lead, after enjoying a lot of the first game BECAUSE of the main character. I donno if I will give this one a chance.

I thought GoT was fantastic my man. Sucks you didn't like it, but it is alright to just disagree on these things. Why even come into the thread of a franchise and studio you despise?

I would assume a valid reason to change leads in a series like this is to not constantly be inventing bullshit reasons why the lead has to relearn so many skills and such at the start of the new installment. In a fantasy or sci-fi series, you can get away with more fantastical and such explanations, but in a more grounded series, you have very limited options. Plus, even if you do go with such explanations and keep the same character as the lead, it just makes it even more difficult to change leads later on as now certain fans get over attached to the first lead and will freak out by this point if the series brings in a new lead.

As far as I am aware, they already freaked out about the change of the lead lol.

But yeah, I understand your reasoning behind that, still it sucks, because jin literally could have created his league of shadows in a sequel.

I feel like I'm the only one who thought Jin's story came to a natural conclusion.

Despite his clan being disbanded and the Shogun ordering his uncle to kill him, Jin continues to fight the remaining Mongols. Then on Iki Island, he deals with his daddy issues and stops putting him on a pedestal. Continuing his story would have had him retread old ground by fighting different groups of Mongols, and having him fight against the samurai back on Tsushima would have betrayed who he was as a character.

Also, hadn't heard the name "Andrew Goldfarb" in ages. One of the few people I liked from the IGN crew at its peak.

It did. A good story must end with its most dramatic event and that already happened, so whatever would come next for Jin would not have the same emotional impact.

I hope Yotei is more than another revenge story.

Come on now, we all know the release window announced by trailer doesn't guarantee anything. It actually is those collateral proofs that reassure people.

Sony had an opportunity to announce a delay, but they doubled down on its release in 2025 in their latest financials. That's a key difference. Still possible it slips, but no evidence right now to suggest it.

If the devs had the balls, they could have turned jin into a ras al ghul like character, who is determined in erasing the old ways with his new found one and taking over in a greater scale, going even further in cruelty and spreading fear even among his own pupils.

I would love if yotei mentions something like that and the lead following this legend of a league of shadows thing.

Maybe I watched too much batman lol, don't dislike me for that take.

Nope, I agree with you completely.

I think more harm than good would have come trying to extend his story. it was the perfect character arc.

I'm a GOT fan and Im also excited about this game l and surely it will be a visual feast especially for ps5 pro. I was dissapointed that its not Jin but its okay. What, Im a bit worried about the voice actress and model of the protagonist because she is a extreme lefistis and active lgbt activist. I hope that will not influence the game and turn the game into another propaganda and push for woke agenda about twisted gender ideology, translecturing, binary and misuse of pronoun crap. And for me no need to copy AC with romance option because it becomes so controversial, divisive, and polarizing especially if they add those same sex stuff. I rather have multiple paths, multiple endings and choices and possible two playable characters.

Honestly? They need to at least make a much better game than the first one, that'll be a good starting point and maybe then we can start talking about matching multi-studio effort of AC Shadows and what they achieved after 7 years of 100% justified criticism in regards to AC games and just their games in general.

I thought GoT was fantastic my man. Sucks you didn't like it, but it is alright to just disagree on these things. Why even come into the thread of a franchise and studio you despise?

Dispise? Wasn't my intention at all.

My point was (maybe I worded it wrong, for which I apologize) that I find it very hard to believe that Sucker Punch can match what Shadows did based on what I've played and seen in GOT, and we're talking about the GOT sequel here so... Like, I've played their past games like inFamous and stuff, didn't grab me at all, then I played GOT and got bored to death by everything except visuals - it's not the most technically advanced game, far from it, but it looks good for what it is - they chose very specific art style for everything and I don't mind it.

I just don't think SP have it in them to make a better game this time around based of what I've played and on my personal experience with their games and that's why I think they're the worst out of all 1st party studios at Sony, which doesn't mean I hate or despise them, they're just not making games for me at all hence I'm extremely sceptical, nothing more, nothing less. Did Ubisoft set the world on fire by AC Shadows? Hell no, but it's without a doubt one of the very few best AC games I've played and I've played like 90% of them except portable ones and small releases.

I was shocked how much I liked (and loved even) AC Shadows, cuz before recently I could't give a shit and I haven't played any AC game after Origins cuz I got bored out of my mind after 30 hours and what I've heard of Odyssey, Valhalla and Mirage when it comes to open world stuff and how especially the first two was designed with time savers in mind to past the grind... Ugh.

Aren't you guys tired of this fanboy shit ?
I am, which is why I'm calling it out. It's just doesn't bring any constructive criticizm to a conversation and some people here can't even say anything to prove their piont except giving a LOL reaction, which is pathetic and telling me everything I need to know of said person.

Why does one thing have to be better than the other ?
I hate to answer with a question but... why does it have to be worse? Like, if you borrow something from someone, like core concept and how some systems work, add your own spin, some new mechanics and stuff, I think it has to be on a certain level of quality and if not surpass other people's work, then at least be on the same level and you know, when people talking about Sony 1st party studios, they have certain expectations cuz they cost a lot to make, again, your expectations are high and when you get something like GOT... Like, I can't name a single thing in GOT which I liked except visuals. Combat got boring very fast and haven't changed at all or much by the end, I didn't liked MC, everything about him, his companions and the main story, all the side quests were boring af, same thing I can say about AC Origins as well, except that I like Aya and the setting. I would argue that GOT is not even better than AC3 when it comes to story, characters and setting, this game has problems of its own (especially by the end), but it was a blast to play at the time after Ezio games, was something really new and fresh, changed a lot for the future of the series... until they decided to reboot it again in 2018, made it worse and now after almost a decade they're changing things again like they did with AC3 back in the day for the better.

So, why should I think that the GOT sequel will be better than the first game? Everything I've seen and experienced points to No. Will I be happy to be wrong? Absolutely! But after AC Shadows it has to be something like a miracle, cuz this game did almost everything better starting with MC and story setup, gameplay and combat (for Naoe) and ending with exceptional realization of feudal Japan (maybe not true to life, but it's not a hardcore Japan simulator ffs!) and everything related to visuals. So yes, GOT sequel has to be better than the first game when it comes to every aspect and if they'll achieve at least that, then I'll be happy to say that they have grown and got better, but man I don't think they'll match AC Shadows, I just don't, I'm sorry, probably with their next game if they'll decide to make it a trilogy.

Haha, it's certainly a direction, and I'm a big fan of stories where we experience a character's descent into madness. Spec Ops: The Line is still one of the best examples of that in gaming. So no hate from me.

It's just from what I remember of his story, he never really hated the Samurai, or the Shogun. He just didn't think they could effectively fight the Mongols by sticking to their traditions, and honour, etc.

My headcanon is Jin fought the rest of the Mongols on the island while mostly staying out of the samurai's way, and once he was done, he disappeared.

Shouldn't be hard.

Assassin's Creed games are bloated beyond imagination with cookie cutter time wasters and TERRIBLE combat. Not to mention stories that are just terrible. Shadows doesn't solve any of that, from what I've seen.

Ghost of Tsushima has a much better story, combat, characters, etc. than pretty much any AC game, and it respects the player's time far more.
