Critic Reviews

CGMagazine - Jordan Biordi - 9 / 10

Super Mario Party Jamboree takes the best parts of its predecessor and combines it with the best parts of the classics for an unforgettable Mario Party experience.

Console Creatures - Bobby Pashalidis - 8 / 10

Super Mario Party Jamboree is easily the biggest game in the Mario Party series. It's brimming with charm and packed with characters, boards, oodles of minigames, and humour.

TheSixthAxis - Stefan L - 9 / 10

In the pantheon of Mario Party games, Super Mario Party Jamboree is the best new game in a long, long time. After getting back to basics with Superstars, Jamboree sticks with the more traditional Mario Party formula in all the right ways, while still finding space to mix things up a little with new items, a blend of motion and button control minigames, Pro Rules, and some larger online modes and experiments. This is practically essential for Mario Party fans.

VGC - Chris Scullion - 4 / 5

Jamboree is one of the best Mario Party games to date, due to the sheer number of modes available and their general high quality. It still hasn't managed to shake some of the core issues of the series (especially when it comes to balancing the game for younger and less experienced players) but judged against previous entries it stands out as a top offering.

I'm always down for a bit of Mario party.

Keen to see the "astrobot is a graveyard" crowd in this thread with the same rhetoric though.

Woah, I could be wrong but I didn't think Mario Party typically reviewed well? I remember at least Game Informer (rip) notoriously gave it low scores.

I was just playing Super Mario Party last night and while fun, it definitely lacks the charm of the originals so I'm glad to hear this seemingly recaptured it. I'm hoping to pick up this and the new Zelda soon.

Well they shat out a MP every year at one point without changing them up much hence the lower scores.

Sounds like it’s one of the better ones, but I can’t really justify buying another Mario Party.

Hopefully the first exclusive “Switch 2” installment will be just as great.

Nintendo regurgitating their games as usual.

Mario Party is literally the FIFA of party games.

Nothing a DLC or Update couldn’t have done.

Eurogamer -40 " It's the biggest Mario Party game yet, but fails to find the fun at almost every step."
I don't respect their opinion but it affects the metacritic score, sadly.

Gamespot - 60
"Many new elements are attempted in Super Mario Party Jamboree, and unfortunately I feel like a lot of them are unwelcome. The new modes are largely duds, the tantalizing promise of 20-player online falls a bit flat, and several of the new minigames are a slog. That said, the new maps are the best original ones in many years and Jamboree promises to still be a blast when you've got some friends over. "

Other than these two, everyone says positive things about it. I might buy it when it's on sale.

Wow, this is getting surprisingly high scores. I might have to actually check this one out.

RIP GameInformer's eternal hate boner for this series

Sounds pretty good. I played one of the recent ones with my kids and they loved it. If this is more chunky on the content side, then it sounds like a no brainer.

My gf is going to love this… and I’ll end up having to play it with her lol

Hopefully there’s a way to play online without having to look up people on discord or message boards.

Going to start looking this up now, but would anybody happen to know if one or two local players can play online VS two randoms or two friends?

EDIT: Info is on the Japanese site:

For Mario Party Mode:

Random Match - One person can play per Nintendo Switch console. (2-4 players)
Friend Match - Up to 3 players can play on one Nintendo Switch console. (2-4 players)

Really stupid that you can't have two people play vs two randoms online.

Seems like the only modes two people on one console can play online is Mini-Game Harbor Tag Team Match and Mario Party VS friends.

This is my favorite Mario Party. I'm glad they went to the Superstar formula with bigger QoL improvements to everything.

Just played this with wife and friends, it's pretty good. Much better than the previous switch ones.

Game is good. REAL good fun! Got it on Thursday and kids have been having a blast playing it all weekend! I’ve loved it as well! Nintendo magic just seems to shine through!

All sorts of mini games is what make Mario party games good I was raised on Mario party 1-4, it’s littered with good mini games.
